Maybe even a 5 or 6 pm start time...however I guess the number of intoxicated fans could skyrocket.
Will they sell alcohol at this game?  I think that's a recipe for disaster.
According to Reusse there will be.  I'd imagine they're far more concerned with wild tailgates around the warehouse district than selling beers to adults in the stadium.

another question I'd have, will they actually have dirt down, or will this be an Oakland Raiders style game, played on dirt??

Sounded like they would turf in the first base line itself since it's so close to (in?) the end zone, but otherwise, it would be like a Raiders game or the way the Dolphins used to play during baseball season when the Marlins were in Joe Robbie.
The added infield turf worked pretty well for the soccer game.

Did it, though? It looks nice in that picture but that doesn't mean it worked well.

Only ever saw one Vikings game in the Old Met, in the short time I lived in MN before they tore it down. Saw a number of Twins games and a few MN Kicks games as well.

Saw a Vikings game at the old Met Stadium (on a very cold afternoon), and a number of Twins games there.  Some good sentimental memories from my youth.  Also went to a number of Kicks games, think I might have even gone inside the stadium for one of them.

Does seem odd to have 2 new football stadiums in town and choose to have this game at a baseball park.

The cool think about the old Met is that -- at least for a while -- they did not use a net for field goals or extra point. As a wee lad I grabbed a kick by Fred Cox, only to have some old dude jerk it out of my hands. The endzone seats were similar to the SJU student section.

My guess is that it was provided for nothing or next to.  Maybe the concessions for rent and the gate goes to the Tommies, or vice versa.  The Twins haven't pulled anyone the last two months of the season is so this will be almost like another Twins game.  The stadium management has nothing to lose.

It's a novelty...the best location would be the soon to be soccer pitch off Snelling and University.

I have no doubt that once UST starts marketing it to alums as "a meeting between two teams that have combined for four national titles," the tickets will sell like chamois rags at a Lambo dealership.

I couldn't find any criticism of it in the post game articles, but I'm sure football will rip it up a little more than soccer especially if it rains at the wrong time.

I am interested in what will happen should there be bad weather in the days before the game, or even on game day. Target Field has been scheduled to host other secondary sporting events that were cancelled because of weather. The one that immediately comes to mind were three town team games near the end of the summer. Because of some rain and the forecast for the day, the event was cancelled. I don't know what the details of that arrangement were though I'm guessing the Twins were treating it as more of a community service event and not something they were contractually obligated to.

If I'm remembering right there was a chance the MN United soccer game wasn't going to be played, also because of weather? If there are any issues with the weather I assume my $35 ticket will grant me admittance at O'Shaughnessy?
