To make it to the semis the Johnnies will travel through Platteville, Oshkosh, UST and Whitewater. That's one hell of a bruising lineup.  The Jays will play nothing but top 10 teams from here on out.

They wouldn't face UWW until the semis, but yes, still a brutal path.

Can't believe the gift of a bracket they gave Mount. By far the easiest quadrant to get out of. I wish they'd have flipped JCU and Mount.

Having seen them both in the past 2 weeks and 1 day, I think Platteville is better than Whitewater. Excellent, big wide receivers. They are a very tough draw for SJU first round.

Yeah, it's one heck of a Rd 1 matchup. Trying to think of a more competitive one from recent years, in terms of teams that really have a shot to go deep...

Yikes! Tough draw, that's for sure.

Well, Massey predicts a 31-24 UWP victory.  We'll be underdogs from here on out. Shades of 2000. Get 'em, boys!

Don't have to go back to recent years - Linfield @ HSU THIS year is at least as big as SJU/Platteville.

Yeah, good point. 2 exceptional Rd 1 matchups. I don't think HSU has the goods for a potential deep run quite like the other 3 might (nothing more than gut instinct on that one). The question still stands, when did we last see Rd 1 matchups like these??

I feel bad for Northwestern. I just looked at their football schedule and clicked on their link to St.Thomas. I think they will be suprised when the show up at St. Thoms in New Brunswick Canada and there is no game there.

I like our chances against the Canadian Tommies, especially considering they don't have a football team.  Maybe their rugby team can fill in for one game.

First time jitters? It's kind of funny though.

Yeah, can't think of Round 1 matchups. The round 2 matchup of course that stands out, unfortunately, in my mind is 2005 when SJU was ranked third in the nation in final regular season poll and....third in the West, which meant trip to No. 2-ranked Whitewater in second round. Eight turnovers later....

Fortunately, it wasn't much of a contest, but I expect this Saturday's game to be different.

Don't count on it.  Monkey StompTM by the boys in red pants!  ;D

+k for the Stomp but, as far as I'm concerned, the red pants can go the way of the pink jockstraps.
