And SJU deserves a spot so this isn't simply a legacy selection.
If SJU does get a playoff spot, it will be a legacy selection.  Looking at UW - Platteville sitting with a SOS of 10 and SJU at 70, it should be an easy decision between the two.  I would argue that Oshkosh, Whitewater and Platteville should all make it in.

The rest of these teams in the MIAC quite frankly need to step it up; there is not excuse for how weak this conference has become.

I get what you're saying, but I'm not sure why the beef with SJU.  They've been ranked in the top 10 most of (if not all of) the 2016.  As far as a "legacy selection", you have too look pretty far back to find an SJU team that has made much noise in the playoffs, so I don't think the "legacy" argument applies.

I think your beef should be with the playoff selection process, in general.  U$T will likely put up 60 points on Northwestern, yet they get an auto bid.  I realize that the system will never be perfect, but it could be better.

The concentration of top 25 teams in the MN/WI/IL/IA region this year is ridiculous.

Fortunately, it wasn't much of a contest, but I expect this Saturday's game to be different.

Don't count on it.  Monkey StompTM by the boys in red pants!  ;D

Well, I was wrong about the red pants but not the  Monkey StompTM;D
+k for the Stomp but, as far as I'm concerned, the red pants can go the way of the pink jockstraps.
Nobody on this board old enough to know what I'm talking about.  :D

Not so 57.

I didn't quite pick up on the "seeding" in the brackets.  If SJU wins, would they be on the road vs. the UWO-Wash U winner, or would they host again?  Or does it depend on whether UWO or WU wins?

Some of this stuff isnt clear until the next round when it is announced, but its 99% likely the Platteville / SJU winner goes to Oshkosh.

I am curious of how the 1 seeds fell in order too. UST was headlined as a 2nd overall seed somewhere that I saw. IF it got to them playing WW I wonder who would host.

Using this info, (http://www.d3football.com/playoffs/2016/final-regional-ranking) I ascertained the following probable seedings:

1. Mary Hardin-Baylor
2. North Central
3. Hardin Simmons
4. Wheaton
5. Linfield
6. Huntingdon
7. Redlands
8. Rose-Hulman

1. St. Thomas
2. Oshkosh
3. Coe
4. St. John's
5. Monmouth
6. Platteville
7. Washington University
8. Northwestern

1. Whitewater
2. John Carroll
3. Wesley
4. Thomas More
5. Stevenson
6. Olivet
7. Wittenberg
8. Lakeland

1. Alfred
2. Johns Hopkins
3. Hobart
4. Mount Union
5. Western New England
6. Randolph-Macon
7. Bridgewater State
8. Husson

Thomas More and Stevenson were both ranked 4 in their regions, so I went with SOS to split hairs for the seedings.

It's a ways out there, but the Collegeville forecast for noon on Saturday is 32 F and partly cloudy.  We've been spoiled with great weather thus far!

I had to see what was available for some of the teams in the region for games.

All of Platteville's home games are still available on demand on their website. A little surprised they didn't pull them yet before the playoffs.

Interesting offense. 4 wide, Pistol Offense. Single Back who slashes and is a boom boomer. Downhill, reminds me a bit of Sura's style. Most of the passing is quick, timing routes, with a few throws over the top when the D gets caught cheating. O line is fairly big, but pretty athletic. Big WR's. The offense carries some similarities to Linfield, with a few unique wrinkles. Johnnie DB's and outside backers will get tested.

Quick question, does anyone know if Jack Newell received a medical redshirt?  He went down during the UST/SJU game.  Newell (and Roberts) were not recognized during senior day which leads me to believe that he will be back next year.

Yes! I think that goes back to when the athletic laundry was done in Rat Hall. Pink was huge.

I saw this as well, but only on the TommieMedia website. My only conclusion is that they don't have a clue and are out of their damn minds (or they read the regional rankings as national). We are behind UW-Whitewater in the regional rankings, so I'd have to think we'd be on the road for a semifinal game, if we get to that point.

I have heard rumblings that Newell did receive a medical redshirt. That conclusion would make sense.
