I'm still coming down off the high from yesterday. What a great finish.
So Johnnie fans, how does "The Drive" 80 yards in 2:10 with no time outs and a TD as time expires rank in all time Johnnie Magic finishes? Does it get elevated in stature because it was a play-off game?

Hard to top the 1976 Stagg Bowl finish.

Towson State rallied from a 28-0 deficit in the fourth quarter to tie the game with 30 seconds remaining, but St. John's quarterback Jeff Norman threw a 58-yard pass to halfback Jim Roeder and kicked a 19-yard field goal on the final play of the game for the victory.

It was late and I believe it was because Dusty was on top of an offensive lineman and not on the ground.

Interesting that in the podcast, it was mentioned that UWP defenders ran off with thinking it was a stop ... but the very first player to show an indication was Erdmann.

Also, some UW* posters were saying that "fans and parents" along the goalline were claiming a stop, but from a wider angle the people right on the goalline on the visitors' sideline appear to be SJU fans who raise their arms, then celebrate.

It appeared to me that the official in the best position to see rushed in from the right (a bit delayed) then signalled emphatically.

Looking ahead, I'm concerned that Piper will almost assuredly not be playing this week (he rung his own bell pretty badly), and Pietruszewski looked like he hurt his shoulder pretty badly, too.

Also, Erdmann from here on out?  ;D

Would that put Max Jackson as next man up? He plays in nickel coverage.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

There's sone amazing truther pics emerging on Twitter  from UW-P associates. My favorite are four pics, play side, about a yard into the end zone. At no point can you really see the ball, nor is there any indication of what moment of the play were they from.

My favorite part is it's bringing up memories of the goal line stand/fumble by UST at their place during Glenn's first year.

The playoff element has to elevate it. There have been plenty of Johnnie Magic moments but I'm partial to the ones I saw in person, or at least saw video of. For instance, I've never seen the Koefed to Gearman play at CON so it's not at the top of my list.

So with that, my favorites, in no particular order...

2008 season was full of them, here's just a couple

Nice list of highlights, rube.  My favourite, but it still comes short of the Platteville win, is the 2009 OT win against the Tommies.  I was at that game sitting up in Fin's palace right on that corner.  It was like the play ran in slow motion as we watched from up there.

I was in person for that one...punch to the gut for Bethel fans!

Once the emotions had worn off, I couldn't help but feel some relief empathy for Gliadon, as he had shanked the PAT to make it 13-14, after SJU had scored what should have been the game tying TD, setting up the BU win, if not for his redemptive bomb of a FG.

Here's the final play...I don't think he got in, however it looks like the umpire is picking the ball up in the end zone.  What's weird is he is handing the ball to the side judge as the touchdown is signaled.

My opinion is he was short but reached it across as he was on the ground (which is why the ref in the endzone picks it up).  But it's D3 and there's no instant replay so you have to accept what the ref coming in from the side saw (even if it may be wrong).  I find it funny because UWP beat UWEC in 2004 (my last year) on the same type of call and watching the film after you saw that the ball never crossed.  So I found a little irony in that one personally.  Either way UWP shot themselves in the foot enough.  How you give up a 25 yard TD on 3rd and 14 to start is beyond me.  The D is not bad for them but it's also why they can't quite break through to the top in the WIAC.  Secondary just seemed lost at times.  Also, Erdmann really seems like he stares down receivers a bit.  Either way he's got a cannon for an arm and being a (redshirt?) freshman I'm sure he'll improve.  Exciting game.

As long as we are talking about "Johnnie magic," I have to say I greatly prefer the 2010 version of the Tommie/Johnnie finale to those in '08 and '09.

On the post game radio show Fasching seemed to indicate Pietruszewski has been playing with the shoulder for quite a while and would play vs. UWO.  Something like, he'll tough it out, can't keep him out of the game, etc.
