I had a pint of Excelsior Spresso Milk Stout the other day.  Oh, man, it is good.  Highly recommended from Duff.  Excelsior is owned by John Klick, SJU '92, to boot!

Shoot!  Saw that on tap yesterday at a work sponsored holiday lunch / team activity and considered it, but passed because it just sounded odd, and went with a Bells Two Hearted, which I already knew to be tasty.

Will have to give it a shot next time I see it.

So I may have missed this, but 15,000 tickets were already sold for the Tommie/Johnnie game?? ???

"Within just three days of going on sale last week, nearly 15,000 tickets for the St. John's-St. Thomas MIAC football game at the Twins' Target Field on Sept. 23 next year were sold, as well as all hospitality venues. The game could end up with attendance approaching 30,000."

Looks like most everything on the third base line and at or below the legends club has been sold out.

So, "if we build it they will come"? Maybe more MIAC venues need to be enlarged/improved? Hmmmm....

That boggles my mind a bit.  15,000 tickets sold 9 months before the game???

All the suites and party areas too! That is crazy. I definitely underestimated the casual and corporate crowd turnout. I think people are treating this as a big reunion of sorts. I suspect there will be a lot of fans there only passively interested in the action on the field.

I have to admit that it's gotten my attention too.  At this rate it will shatter the single game attendance record.

There was lots of doubting in here but I think you guys underestimated the interest from the casual fan, plus the way the Twins would push this to their season ticket holders. (Although I know the last point was definitely mentioned.)

Now I just hope we have nice weather!

I had high expectations on this game/venue when it was first announced.  That said, 15k in December blew me away.  Tip of the cap to UST/SJU for getting the word out on this and following through.

Heck, why not sell it out now!

I would be surprised if there were less than a very big number at that game.  You would think that anyone who attended a Johnnie/Tommie game in the last 5 or six years will be showing at this one.  And there have been some awfully big crowds for those games.  I think at least 25k.

Off topic but heartwarming moment.  The Hawks have just finished their pre-season fitness camp up in Queensland and a young Hawks fan signed and presented his own footy shoes to Jarryd Roughead.  Like Roughy, the boy had just beaten cancer himself.  A great photo from the Hawthorn twitter feed.

My dinner this evening--I was way off with respect to projecting the level of interest in this game.

I'll admit I was a little cynical when I first heard of the game.  Probably because it was a Tommie home game and would easily set the MIAC record.  But I still wouldn't trade those numbers for Clemens Stadium.  It just took me a while to settle to the idea.

AO- any speculation if your cousin would have an opportunity with Craig Bohl's staff if the Gophers would be able to land Bohl after firing Clayes? Of course this is all hypothetical  ;)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!
