The celebration's purpose wasn't entirely clear to me. Were they celebrating who signed, or just the fact that anyone signed at all?  Can someone clear that up?

Neither am I, and I wish it wasn't what it took to be successful with the youth of today, but what's wrong with tailoring your approach to what resonates with recruits?  He had a higher ranked recruiting class than Claeys had landed by 20 spots, with only 26 days to do so, and I believe higher than Kill / Claeys ever had. He's taking an approach that works well with the clientele.

I'm more unimpressed that this is where the culture of kids today is, than I am that someone is adapting to attract players that are part of said culture.

I'm with Duff on The Fleck.  I'm not opposed to a successful Gopher football program.  I just feel like I've seen this rah rah song and dance a few too many times.  Talk is cheap.  It takes money to buy whiskey. 

Also, all the celebration on signing day for what? A class that is not materially better than any other Gopher recruiting class since the dawn of ranking classes?

As always when it comes to Gopher sports, I'm happy to be wrong when it comes to my gloom and doom.

But hey, at least his kids signed National Letters of Intent...

That is more of a question to me...while it's slightly obnoxious, I get all of the theatrics for the kids of today...seems like their coaches / staff only shindig was a bit over the top.

Like you, though, I'd love to see them be successful, regardless of the other antics.

A lifetime of disappointment has built a shield of cynicism that could easily be mistaken for an anti-Gopher disposition, which it is not.

I am, however, an anti-dentite.

I follow Gopher recruiting and I would say that even though this class was full of "3 Star" prospects the amount of offers the kids had from other Power 5 schools was greater with this group than any other class I can remember. The new assistant coaches come from legit programs, Ed Warriner the new O line coach was the OC at Ohio State last year and yes he was a better o line coach there. He played at Mount Union I believe. The DC is the former Arkansas Def Coordinator. There are others but I will stop. I am optimistic.
