This anti Gopher football talk is a side of the Johnnies that I did not expect. Interesting.

Ski U Mah!

I'm not anti-Gopher.  I would love to see them have a great team.  I just don't care for Fleck's shtick.

Neither am I, and I wish it wasn't what it took to be successful with the youth of today, but what's wrong with tailoring your approach to what resonates with recruits?  He had a higher ranked recruiting class than Claeys had landed by 20 spots, with only 26 days to do so, and I believe higher than Kill / Claeys ever had. He's taking an approach that works well with the clientele.

I'm more unimpressed that this is where the culture of kids today is, than I am that someone is adapting to attract players that are part of said culture.
Unfortunately everything these days has gone over the top.  College signings, proms. weddings,........ everything is done now to a new level.  Until the Gopher program can get to winning where it draws kids in they almost have to play this game in the recruiting.  Remember, this is the selfie stick generation, it's all about me, me, me.......

I've never heard someone insert "stick" to "selfie generation," but I like it.  Not only is there a need to take pictures of yourself, but one needs a stick for the exclusive purpose of holding the camera far enough back that it creates the illusion that you have a friend willing to take the picture for you.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

The cost for prom (if parents let the kid walk all over them) is more than a wedding 25 years ago. Solution: parents need to grow a spine!
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

#1 has her formal next Friday night.  Some schools still call it the Debutante Ball.  Not my daughters' school, unfortunately, as I would get quite a kick out of saying, "Tonight you debut!"

Needless to say, a little stress.  #1 (along with her sisters) all attend a Catholic girls' high school.  So #1 is going to the ball with a boy from a Catholic boys' high school she met earlier this year at a "gathering".

It turns out that parties must have lights and duff-duff music to be a party.  Just music and a bunch of kids at someone's house is a gathering.  Sounds like a prayer revival reality show on TLC or something.

Of course, there have been neither parties or gatherings at the Casa del Oz.  We work on a strict five-friends-max and I can't hear the music from 10 feet away rule.

According to Northstar News, here are 2017's top-five NSIC classes for Minnesota players: http://www.northstarfootballnews.com/news_article/show/752656?referrer_id=877078

Based on Northstar's player rankings, one could make the argument that St. Thomas out recruited several NSIC programs in Minnesota.  To date, St. Thomas has three in the top-100, eleven in the top-200, and seventeen in the top 300.

Well, you guys were half right.  Coach Joe Lepsche is an offensive coordinator, but he's not heading back to St. Thomas: https://twitter.com/CoachLepsche

I agree, UST did out recruit some of those teams. Need to consider though that D2 teams are limited to 36 scholarships on the roster per year and classes are 25, 26 per year so they split those dollars up but in the case of UST or SJU, which can attract the big numbers of good athletes, they just keep giving financial aid to as many recruits as they want.

Hypothetically speaking: SCSU offers a $1500 football scholarship and UST, SJU or Bethel offers enough aid to beat that offer through grants etc.  Kid plays in the MIAC unless he is captivated by D2 status.

Some of you might be interested to know that SJU is in the Homer Call playoffs for a Dallas sports radio station.

But.... Monks & priest don't add much to the average  ;)
Accepting that as fact, I imagine there are more Priests that come from St Thomas than from St Johns ;-)

Is it the off season?  It must be time to post commercials.  Here's one for roadside assist insurance that made me laugh.

Edit: And for a bonus, the ad which Mrs Oz has declared, "The worst on television; I hate it."

So bad it's awful.
