Now that list looks like it was written by someone that knows what they are taking about. The fluff piece by Money Magazine naming Brainerd didn't make sense. Maybe they used a minimum population in the Money Magazine piece.

I love some of the comments: "Publishing a list like this is cruel!"  :P

When I was growing up, I didn't know we were poor. I guess we weren't since we had what we needed :)

Nice win for the Hawks last night against Fremantle.  Five more wins to go and we make the finals, starting with Sydney at the MCG this Friday night.  That game will be a cracker.

Highlights from the Freo game.  You'll notice that Fremantle is manbun central.

I don't have much going on but travelling for work and Aussie Rules, both of which are boring for most here.  Otherwise I would be dropping some content.

On travel, a couple of observations:

- I was in New Delhi about two months ago.  New Delhi is the most luxurious part of India because they took a great big chunk of (old) Delhi, knocked it down and built a fancy gov't district in the colonial style.  Big, wide streets.  Huge, green compounds.  Nice to visit but you wouldn't want to live there.  I figure there's a reason there are so many Indians living elsewhere in the world.  If I were born in India I would take my first chance to get out of that crowded, dusty, dirty place as well.

- Pollution has destroyed China (and Hong Kong).  There is a constant haze in the sky (almost like early morning fog back home) due to all the factories with no scrubbers.  The whole country is covered in a haze.  When you fly you can see it hanging there under you, with mountain ranges poking up through the brown.  You can't see the blue sky anymore in Hong Kong except on really clear days after a rain.  I first went to Hong Kong in '91 while in the navy.  Today, the smog from Southern China blankets the island.  Shame.

More travel observations:

- The wife and I went to Hobart, Tasmania for the weekend two weeks ago.  It was a quick trip to celebrate 25 years of marriage (yes, you get less time for murder).  Hobart is a nice town, but small.  Two days is enough.  Food is quite nice, however.  We had a phenomenal steak one night.  And a great seafood basket at a waterfront pub the next night.

- Hong Kong, despite the haze, is the best town in Asia.  One of the best is the world for a visit.  Extremely busy.  More sights that at an optometrist convention.  You can easy spend a week in HK, never see/do the same thing twice and never get bored.  If you have a family and want to live in Asia, then I say live in Singapore.  But if you want to LIIIIIVE, then go to Hong Kong.

One more thing.  Scotch drinkers here?  Tasmania has taken the world by storm and produces officially the best in the world.  I wasn't much of a whisky drinker myself, but a friend gave me a bottle of the world champ a while ago which I just cracked open recently.  Smooth.  Delicious.  Unexpectedly, I found that I quite liked it.  So, there, a new incentive for any of you to come this way. We can share a few tumblers of the best there is.

EDIT: To be clear, I don't have a bottle of the actual championship batch, but I do have a bottle of Sullivan's Cove single malt.  Call it the the production release of the championship lot.

After many years of patience, we were finally able to get our SJU seats moved so the we have seat backs, and as a bonus, we're right next to the families of two of our good friends, who have kids of about the same age as ours.  This should make games more enjoyable for the kids, and consequently, for us.

Next up, 2017 MIAC champs.

A tradition unrivaled...

But are the seat backs made of freshly hewn cherry? You need semi-exotic furnishings to compete in the MIAC nowadays.

Just got a promotional SJU-UST football game email.  It said over 25,000 tickets have already been sold.
