What section did you get moved to?

Not quite the Promised Land, but you can see it from where you are....  8-)

The dream of post season glory stays alive!  The utterly intense last two minutes vs the Swans: https://youtu.be/L1wDZRksGHw

From my recollection, you don't even sit in section 105.  :P

On the 50, half way up, reserved seats with back....that's the Promised Land. Also the occasional game that L.Bean gets me into the high buck Hill-Murray alumni suites aren't shabby either  ;)

That was my first telephone #  ;D

2 short rings and a long was your house 57.  Anything else was the Guenther's or the Polanski's down the way.

Right on and you listened in no matter the ring :)
My sister was an operator and really knew how to say 'number please'.
She is 89 and still has a rotary phone to call out on because of some vision problems but answers on one with a speaker. Only in Wisconsin :D

Mom died a year ago at 98.  She had a rotary phone to the day she died!

I had not watched this game in years when I stumbled across it on youtube this afternoon.  A real treat of a contest.  Fast.  Skillful.  Hard.  And, best of all, victorious.  The 2008 Grand Final between Hawthorn and Geelong.  A classic game.

It's two teams at the peak of their game clashing like two titans.  The first three quarters are so intense that I was cheering and pumping my fists in the air.  A great watch if you have a couple hours to kill.

(I stumbled upon another all time classic, again between Hawthorn and Geelong, but I'll post that next weekend if I remember.)

I gotta give it up to the Cubs. They gave Steve Bartman a World Series ring. Quality move.  8-)

Ha!  Winter down here is a funny thing.  It's no where near as cold (we got below 40 above on three mornings that I can specifically remember this year) and there is no snow (except for in the mountains with the wallabies), but it's (embarrassingly) complaint worthy.  It's the mid to low 40's most days, rainy, wet and damp.  You're always chilled, cold and moist.  It wears you down by the end of the winter with the steady wetness.

At home we have the cold, but it's bone dry.  The outdoors and the snow can be enjoyed, despite the cold.  Here, particularly toward the end of winter when patience is running low, you wake up to the sound of rain AGAIN and step outside to feel the cold wet air start soaking into your skin like cold water into a sponge.  Back home I would say winter is conquered.  Here I would say winter is endured.

EDIT: I should add that I'm describing winter south of the Great Dividing Range. North of the mountains where people are as soft as butter there are really only two seasons in Australia. Wet and dry to increasing extremes the farther you go north, particularly when you get up to the tropics.

Need some new blood on this site as there is only 10-12 posters left here.  This use to be the Johnny love board and even that is gone.
