OA, did you see Apple Valley's Gable Steveson just won a junior world title at 120 kg (265 lbs)?  He'll be a senior at AV this year, and he's the top-ranked wrestler (at any weight) in the US in the class of 2018.  He's committed to the Gophers already!!!  ;D

Yeah, he is a stud!  It'll be exciting to see what kind of impact he'll make on the college scene.

I received my tickets yesterday for the Johnnie-Tommie game at Target Field. Inside the envelope along with the tickets and a 2017 Twins schedule is a slip of paper with a blurb about arriving early, metal detectors,no backpacks blah blah blah. The sentence that caught my eye was "Weapons and large metal items will not be allowed into Target Field." So that got me to wondering, what qualifies as a "large metal object"........?
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

The Awful Announcing site released their guesses as to where ESPN College Game Day will be going each Saturday this season. The Tommie/Johnnie tilt at Target Field was not listed as a possibility for week 4, 9/23. There are plenty of name brand programs playing that week so it would be quite the PR effort by SJU/UST/MIAC to make it happen.

There are some good games but you have to keep in mind college gameday broadcasts on saturday, most of the good games are on Friday so they could still have a decent chance

Took a look at the D1 schedule and all of the games mentioned by AA, along with a few other notable games, are all on Saturday.

Sorry about that, guess the ESPN app is messed up on my phone, on there it said they were all on Friday

I, too, have been a lurker in the offseason. If you want posts from an older retired guy, here;s what you would get.

I played golf Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. In order, I shot: 74, 88
(WTF), 76 and 75.

I'm sure that excited no one. Which is why I only lurk.

9 holes?

Uuuugh. We had some friends over last night and I'm suffering through a level 4. Up at the shops getting coffee and a sausage roll. The deliciously fatty Aussie sausage roll is the ultimate hangover cure.

Mrs Oz and I are sitting in Hisense Arena waiting for Jerry Seinfeld to take the stage.  My Christmas present.

We're a little nervous because we love the show Seinfeld. We sure hope Jerry still has it.

EDIT:  Epic.  Hilarious. About two seasons of Seinfeld material tonight.  Highly recommended if you loved the TV show.

Is/was there any discussion about moving the game at Target Field to the evening and giving it a primetime feel?  Or does St. Thomas's deal with WCCO prevent any sort of flexibility? In my mind I see it working well at 7P.M. and channel 45 could televise it like they do the state tournament.  I just feel there are more ways for the MIAC and the two schools could crank it up.  Or maybe they don't want all that right now.  Maybe this is a trial run and if it goes well then they'll move up the scale, maybe try to do a game at US Bank?

I think this is more of a situation of Target Field doing a trial run for the NDSU games upcoming.

No discussions along those lines that I'm aware of.  The Twins are running this, but the schools had some limited input as well, and it is a St Thomas home game technically.

Week 4: TCU at Oklahoma State
Other options: Notre Dame at Michigan State, Penn State at Iowa, UCLA at Stanford
This "GameDay" trip to Stillwater relies on both teams surviving early road tests, as TCU plays at Arkansas in Week 2 and Oklahoma State will have played at Pitt the previous week. But this should be a game between undefeated Top 20 teams, including one in Oklahoma State that has the offensive firepower it needs to make the College Football Playoff. And anytime you have the opportunity to see Lee Corso fire off Pistol Pete's guns, you take it.

Full article is here, but keep in mind the site runs terribly slow. http://awfulannouncing.com/espn/predicting-2017-weekly-locations-espns-college-gameday.html

So what you are telling me is I have to root for Bret Bielema if I want a chance at Gameday. Hmm
