Newsletter received, and Rob was on vacay last week so that's why. Thus ends your Johnnie programming.

Somehow got off the list. Can someone PM me the address to get back on? Thanks.

I forwarded the latest copy to the email address in your profile, repete.
Thanks!

Is it legal to interfere or to try to steal the snap of the ball? Just asking for a friend?
no, it's not legal. For the NCAA rules see http://www.ncaapublications.com/productdownloads/FR17updated.pdf . The snapper must complete the snap.  Here's a an example in the  NCAA rules interpretation

Defensive Team Requirements—ARTICLE 5
Approved Ruling 7-1-5

II. Snapper A1 legally begins the snap, but B2 bats the ball before A1
completes the snap, and B3 recovers the ball
. RULING: Team B foul
and the ball remains dead. Penalty—Five yards from the succeeding
spot. Team B may not touch the ball until it has been snapped.
Team
A retains possession.
It might be legal in high school.  https://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2016/10/30/13470380/video-high-school-football-artesia-goddard-surreal-17-minute-ending

SIAP, but found out today that the field will not be sodded over for Tommie Johnnie next weekend.  Kind of a bummer, considering they'll have almost a week to prep for a game, and nearly a week after the game before the Twins return.

It'll be like the Met, back in the day, ha.

Do you mean infield or the entire field? Please elaborate....that's a lot of freakin' dirt to play on.

I can understand not sodding the rest of it before the game considering they will need to do some repairs after the football game is over. But not covering the infield would definitely not be a good thing...IMO.

That's gonna be some crappy play down at one end.  From the way they lay out a football field, 50% of one half will be dirt if they don't grass it up.

Maybe we can play Wrigley Field style, and only have the offense going in one direction.

Seriously...HTH do they promote images of all grass and then not pony up the $$$ to put grass on the infield?  Consider that MIAC teams maybe play maybe one game all year on grass...now this on a dirt infield. Well at least the U$T lineman will have something to throw in the eyes of the Johnnies!!!

Here's a nice little piece on the Tommie-Johnnie rivalry:

Good article. Thanks for posting it. Written by a Tommie, I suspect. ;)

I knew him at St Thomas through some Catholic connections, but I don't believe he ever went through. Actually, per my LinkedIn stalking, he's an NDSU grad.

Well, he wrote it for a Tommie audience then.  Of UST's 34 victories over SJU, he wrote the score of 21 games and mentioned seven more victories without the score, an 82% strike rate.  It sure seemed by reading that article that UST has won more than two out of every five games against us over the years... ;)

No sod to cover the baseball infield.  The pitchers mound will be sodded.  Lotta dirt in one half of the field

This is not a good look for anyone involved but for us over 50 years old it was standard in the NFL to see this on TV on Sundays. More recent I think the Raiders played home games at Alameda Cty Stadium with a dirt infield. Chargers too? My point is that in this age of field turf at most high schools it probably seems shocking to see but it's been done for years, just not recent years!

Agreed.  From the way they show the field orientation on the Twins site, looks like the entire infield will be in the football field, save for the third base line.  That's a ton of dirt.  It'll make for weird optics and I just don't want to see it factor into the game at all.  Any field goal kick to that end from beyond the 25 yard line will be spotted in the dirt.

We shouldn't be surprised by this.  Don't get me wrong, I'll be at the game, but this is a D3 PR event put on by the Twins.  Who would pay for sodding the dirt, the Twins, the Johnnies, the Tommies???  And quickly laid sod is sometimes worse than just dirt.  If UST had a football field or campus they were proud of this probably wouldn't be happening in the first place.
