There was contact on the pass interference that was called but Green totally sold the crap out of it. If a Johnnie had done that, you know everyone would be saying what a heady play that was on the receiver's part.  ;D

The one going the other direction, the no-call -- I really thought that was a good no-call with the players' feet getting tangled.

What were your observations or information on Roberts? He doesn't seem to be running with the same ferocity still. Late 1st or early 2nd quarter he had a couple of runs that looked better but in general he doesn't seem to be quite right still.

Doesn't look like classic Roberts to me either, but he's not running with the same offensive line that he was in 2015, either.

True. I guess I don't know enough about X's and O's to dissect the differences in line and how that would impact Trettel and Roberts differently with their running styles

I didn't realize the Johnnies were willing to be so critical of their coaches. All this talk about replacing Jim Gagliardi brings up an interesting question. Does Fasching have much job security? No one was willing to force John Gagliardi's departure, even when it became pretty clear a change was needed. Given that the Gagliardi era lasted so long, there isn't much recent history to indicate if Fasching were on thin ice. He's been there for five years and the Johnnies have found some success. However, they haven't made a deep run in the playoffs during his tenure and now the Johnnies have lost four in a row to the Tommies.

While the standards for success at St John's and other schools are high, I sure hope that D3 and the MIAC can avoid the absurd expectations from D1, where a coach like Richt gets fired because he couldn't beat his rival or win the conference. If the MIAC had divisions, St John's would be in position to win the north routinely and coming in 2nd every year and getting a Pool C playoff bid with a chance to win in round 1 and then lose to UST or a WIAC team is still a pretty good ceiling for the Johnnies.

In my opinion, Fasching is in perfectly fine stead at SJU.

For the Johnnie fans out there: how many consecutive losses to UST (while typically winning most or all of their other games), would it take to consider this? Is there a number?

Also, to what degree does the Johnnie fan base influence these sorts of decisions at SJU? Donors play a major role in DI coaching decisions. If the Johnnies didn't make a deep run for X number of years, or lost to the Tommies X number of games in row, would you have donors withholding funds? If that were the case, would SJU administrators see it as a serious problem?

Fasching fired?  What kind of idiotic nonesense is this?  The Tommie echo chamber sure worked its magic in the giddy highs of victory.  Tommies apparently don't know the meaning of constructive critisism, only aware of the psychophantic echo chamber.

I think the level at SJU is just fine and a coaching change would be absurd is needed - I like it just the way it is.

Given that the Johnies were the ones calling for a coaching change, Johnnies have high expectations, and coaching changes have been known to occur at places where high expectations aren't met, this is a resonable topic for conversation. Maybe give some insight on how things work at SJU instead of attacking those with honest questions.

I think Fasching is a great coach and a likeable dude.

It's fun to imagine in my mind that St John's is basically D3 Nebraska.

Hypotheticals are fun. So OZ, how many losses in a row to the (edited to add:) dirty, classless, cheating Tommies would it take?

An aspect of yesterday's game that has not been commented on thus far:
I was actually surprised at the lack of chippiness. The first series or two, I saw a few instances that could have turned volatile, but nothing came of it. And we really didn't see the personal fouls that the Johnnies have come to expect from the Tommies. Plenty of penalties, but not of the ugly variety.

It's not an honest question to treat an emotional post-loss response as a rational position. Additionally, to hypothesize that posters here have any influence in Johnnieland is fantastical.  It's not a serious question.
