I think we were focused on the rise of Johnnie EnvyTM and job (in)security up in Collegeville. Any input?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't Johnnie EnvyTM refer to a feeling of jealously towards SJU?

A tradition unrivaled...

Well, Freud never meant 'penis envy' to suggest that males were envious of females. :D

I think you have totally squelched the non-reverend, non-PhD, poster. :o 8-)

Actually, Johnnie Envy sounds like a character in an old detective movie.

Funny, but that was the exact example I was thinking of.  :)

There was a nice contingent of GAC fans in the stands at the Augsburg game (between 1/3-1/2 in the stands)
Nice! Enjoying the highly diverse and culturally significant Cedar Riverside area, well done!  If I recall correctly the parking was limited for that game by the big crowd at Augsburg for the Noble Peace Prize Forum. http://nobelpeaceprizeforum.org/live/

Congrats to NW and GAC fans for being so brave as to conquer such death defying feats as: finding a parking spot; alone and without your driver and avoiding a mugging by phantom hoodlums that don't exist.
It was an effort but my wife took point to clear a path from the parking lot.  I was really proud of my daughter (she goes to the UofM) as she managed to make it from her apartment next to Bierman Field Athletic Building on the U of M campus to Augsburg via Metro Transit; her stories of that epic journey were mind boggling.  The Seals have offered her a placement when she graduates.

Naturally the Johnnies think first of penis envy. You have Johnnie Bread and now you have Johnnie Envy.TM Enough said...

Well, I must say I am impressed. Such a brave family you have Wilson!  My daughter also goes to The U and actually lives in a house off campus not too far from your daughter.  Last year she lived in an apartment at Seven Corners and with her roomate she would walk through Augsburg and over the 94 walk bridge to shop at the grocery store on Franklin Avenue. I guess they have good, fresh fruit there, who knew?  Anyway they also enjoyed walking down Cedar Avenue to shop at Midwest Mountainering, at night no less.  2 or 3 - 20 year old women did this without any training or night vision goggles or weapons. Hard to beleive right?

I don't play the pick-ems but I appreciate the work AO. I've used your spreads a number of times when discussing/debating games w/ friends & family. They've won and lost for me in an annual 6-pack bet w/ my GAC uncle-in-law when the Johnnies and Gusties square off.

All the way over to Franklin, they must be brave.  One of my favorite guitar shops is on Franklin but when I go there I take my urban assault vehicle (3/4 diesel pickup), wear lots of tactical gear, and make sure I'm packing major heat.  It's a scary trip but worth it.

The Auggie campus gets a bit of a bad rap. There is more violence against students across the river on the east bank at the U. I would be a little more nervous in or around the Hamdogs campus.

Old Auggie, what's the plans for all the construction happening on campus? I've been in the new student center and that is a very nice facility. The new buildings are giving it the look of a well thought out urban, college campus.

From the game this past week, I will say I was very impressed with Auggies QB.  As a surprise to no one UST brought heat constantly and between his size and agility, he managed it as well as could be expected. There were a couple of big time throws made on the run. The Auggie D was more or less what it has been for the last 5-6 years I have seen. There were a lot of holes. I will be curious to see if the SJU offense has a rebound game, because I am guessing Auggie's offense will pull out a couple of nice offensive series in the game.

Just out of college, my sister (a U of M student) and three or four housemates invited me to be a male figure at their place a block from Franklin and Chicago. It was convenient to a bar noted for knife work and you never knew who would wander into your parties. But great old Victorians in serious need of repair

Turns out there was a house next door of Johnnies in various of U of M grad programs. When the city told the slumlord a fire escape was required for the third-story bedrooms, he provided a rope.

I'm betting the Auggie offense will be able to make some plays against the Johnnie defense.  It'll be interesting to see how the Auggie D stacks up to the Johnnie offense.  U$T was able to stymie Jimmy G, and Bethel was able to slow down the Johnnies, but those are two pretty physical defenses (I think Bethel is quite a bit better than their record shows right now).  My gut tells me that the Johnnie offense will get things rolling.

This is a known to Johnnie fans, so I am probably preaching to the choir, but Clark and Streit need multiple touches each half. Having watched them for the last couple years they are both pretty darn close to D1 talents. Clark can be a fantastic decoy too. Bounce him around from slot to split to tailback so the defense cant bracket him.
