There was an uncalled rules violation that was the reason the Cubs won. Two runners scored after the batter hit the catcher's mask, and the ball went to the backstop. The rule states that in this instance, it is a strike, and the ball is dead. Runners may not advance. An asterisk should appear in the record book.

Absolutely agree.

Here's a nice article about the launch of the Dougherty Family College. I think we can all get behind such an effort that helps the less advantaged in our community.

I'm watching game one of the ALCS between the Houston Astros and the Yankees.  Perhaps my brain is fading, but aren't the Atros a National League team?

Don't recall when the move was made, but you're a few years behind.  MLB wanted to end the imbalance (16-14) between leagues, and therefore also the imbalance in divisions.  It is now 6 divisions of 5 teams each.  I don't recall if the Astros volunteered for the switch, or were bribed and/or forced into it.

Interesting.
It is well known in the state university system there are "feeder schools", 2 year programs (example: a lot of students at  Ridgewater & St. Cloud Technical College end up at St. Cloud State) there are no athletics at DFC,but who knows what the future holds.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

What I don't understand is how not one of the 6 umpires on the field saw the bat hit the catcher. Also, if a hit by pitch can be reviewed, why can't this play be reviewed? Washington has a legitimate beef and MLB needs to do something about it (for future situations).

Game Day

Go JOHNNIES.  :)

I may be late. We're over at Mrs Oz's sister's house. She's working on a level 5 and her sister is guaranteed a level 7. I've got to drive home so I'm sober.  Great times.

Looks like a good win for UST's sister school:

It's funny you always claim this.  Aren't sisters usually at least aware of each other?
Yea, I have a coworker who went to BC and he NEVER considered UST and he grew up in Edina  :o

Nothing the Ducks have wore is that bad! Those are awful.
