I know St. John's. They are the team that broke my heart in 2003 in the Stagg Bowl. We (no, I didn't play) have played each other 4 times.
I know not about a "Concordia-Morehead". Just seen the name.
Good luck Johnnies on Saturday.

Best to Ozjohnnie and 57Johnnie and all the SJU fans. Hope you make the playoffs!
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

Gustavus won't elevate until they replace their coaching staff.  They are undisciplined and unmotivated and that is the fault of the head coach.

Wow, you've changed your tune!  I'm guessing your son will not be playing for GAC next year.
Haven't changed my tune, just know the team better.  I still believe that they are a fairly talented group of guys that should be able to compete with Bethel, St. John's, and Concordia.  The reason they don't and the reason they are with the bottom dwellers is due to coaching.  Yesterday you saw the sad sight of the head coach picking up an unsportsmen like penalty from the bench - truly a classless display by a poor coach.  They are making some changes on offense in the running game that although not perfect is at least heading in the proper direction.  The defense though is a different matter.  What disturbs me though is the lack of discipline and motivation and something is clearly wrong with the team - this lies directly with the head coach.  Last year, 5 players quit mid season including the starting center - that is not normal.  As for my son playing, that is up to him - he's a man now so his relationship to the coaching staff and the athletic department is up to him, as a parent I can't be involved.  He likes the school, really enjoys his Track and Field team and his participation in the music program so he'll probably remain at Gustavus.  If he chooses to transfer, I'll support his decision depending on cost.
As a follower of one of the MIAC football's perennial bottom dwellers I feel qualified to comment. Appears that each school has it's own version of a strong athletic program and for anyone other than UST it is is somewhat locked in. I suspect it is all about money. Gustavus has great tennis but they are not going to steal dollars from tennis to give to football. Augsburg has great wrestling and hockey with no chance of funneling dollars away from either sport to give to football. Each school can only do as much as their budget allows. This is just my observation. Thankfully we are well in to the hockey season with wrestling just around the corner!  I can hold my head high this time of year but during football season I take my lumps.

Ding, ding, ding!  We have a winner.

EDIT:  Which is also a reason I enjoy this board's off topic posts, particularly hockey and wrestling.  There's a bit of glory out there and it's enjoyable to read about it all.

The top 25 is out, http://d3football.com/top25/2017/week10:

UST stays in 4th
SJU stays in 6th
CON stays in 19th

All holds steady entering the big last week.

Mr.MIAC

Speaking of Haugen's unsportsmanlike conduct penalty yesterday, did anyone catch what actually happened? We've seen plenty of DIII coaches screaming from the sidelines and more than a few walk out on the field. I don't remember many getting penalized.

Curious as well.  It happened on a fake punt sometime in third quarter and the ref was quite definitive in his call.

I can't imagine why a coach might be pissed about something after a fake punt in the 3rd quarter when his team is trailing 34-7. He was probably just mad at himself that he didn't see it coming at that time of the game.  ;D #TECMOBOWL

What did he do/say? I didn't catch it during the game.

OzJohnnie

I did not know until this moment that the UST first team was still playing midway through the third quarter and that Caruso ran a fake punt at the G35 with UST up 34-7.

Too funny.  I doubt anything the GAC coach said was fit for the ears of minors.

Just to clarify, the line of scrimmage was the UST 34.  It was 4th and 4, about mid way through the third.  UST had gone for it on 4th down 5 times in the game to that point from spots all over the field.

Ah, I misread. The play by play says:

4th and 4 at UST34   RobertPetitjean rush for 31 yards to the GAC35 (Cam Hufendick).
1st and 10 at GAC35   Fakepunt rush by punter Robert Petitjean

I read the end of the play as the start of the play.  Now that I see it properly there's no reason for the GAC coach to get angry about Glenn being Glenn.
