Hi guys.  First time, long time.

-looks like the Tommie posters have taken on the personality of their blowhard coach (notable exception my friend Benchwarmer) I went over there a few weeks ago to see them play Bethel.  Pathetic crowd & I left wholly unimpressed by both squads.  UST was undisclipined, Perra continues to force the ball into bad spots/INTs, & allowed several big special teams plays.  I got a kick outta the PA announcer trying to get the crowd hyped up before the game when there couldn't have been more than 1000 in the stands with over 50% Bethel fans (in a terrible season, no less).  Caruso can try to manufacture tradition, passion, and reverence for UST football(a video board, replays, loud obnoxious PA announcer, D1 caliber lockers) but it won't work unless it's organic.

-105 hit the nail on the head.  There is lots of mutual respect built up over many years between SJU and Mount Union/Linfield.  There's Dennis from LA, Wildcat11, Gig Harbor Cat, Joe Smith's dad, even Bluenote whom we've engaged in many great weeks of trash talk and thereafter mutual respect.  You Tommie clowns could learn something here.

-flights were $79~ round trip to Ohare on a Saturday so there should be a good crew of us flying down.  If there are any North Central guys lurking here, what's the best breakfast spot? Egg Harbor or Eggs Inc downtown?  What about bars near the stadium?  Jackson Ave looks promising.  Any others you guys would recommend?

So I might have missed something, but probably not. Why is your opinion relevant?

Depends on who you ask..... a quick look down memory lane.

St. Thomas since 2010 - 7-3 vs. SJU, 6 MIAC titles, 5 quarterfinal games, 3 semifinal games, 2 STAGG BOWLS (15-6 Playoff record)
SJU Since 2010 - 3-7 vs. St. Thomas, 1 MIAC title, 0 quarterfinal games, 0 semifinal games, 0 STAGG BOWLS (3-3 Playoff record)

If tradition and organic is SJU - with the results above and attendance numbers to brag about..... Never-mind, i'd rather be dressed in Purple and Grey this weekend!!

Go ahead and hit any of the places on Jackson. I hear they have a nice beef tongue sandwich on the menu just for you.

Egg Harbor is a favorite for me followed by the Bloody Mary or beer at The Lantern.   That leaves you a block from the stadium.   Safe travels.

I think the QB's are just one small part of the SJU/NCC game puzzle.  From the looks of the stats and relative team strengths I think this will be a game of contrasting strategies.

NCC looks to be a team that tries to run away from the competition.  I mean they try to run a high score that the opposition cannot keep pace with.  Scoreboard control comes first, defense comes second (in strategic priority).

The Johnnies, on the other hand, use a strong defense to strangle a side and let the O score for the win.  Defense comes first and the O grinds over the top (strategically).  The Johnnies have played this way a long, long time with some notable exceptions in the early 90's and early 00's when Air Johnnie (tm) was all the rage.

So, I expect the Johnnie O to put up points in the 20's against the NCC defense.  The question will be can the NCC offense score more on the Johnnies than the Tommie offense did.

That's not at all a fair representation of North Central. They try to to first control the LOS on both sides. On offense they are 60% run and 40% pass, all from a spread formation. They will absolutely try to pound the ball at you and have a very physical OL with which to do it. If you can stop the run and pressure the QB without blitzing, you can slow this offense. NCC's defense is #10 in the country against the rush, #10 in TFL and #2 in sacks. Their DL controls the LOS and gets in the backfield.

If St Johns can give Erdmann time to throw, NCC is vulnerable against the pass. That's how Wheaton won. They rushed 4 and pressured Rutter and then they protected their own QB and lit up the NCC secondary.

If St John's can keep NCC under 20 points they will likely win. The only times in recent memory NCC has lost in the playoffs is when they are held under 20 (2013 UMU game excepted). NCC's defense is very good up front and they get after the QB.

I can see how good St Johns is on defense so I expect a war on Saturday.

Perhaps you're right. Maybe I'll settle for this:

If the Johnnie D plays well then it's game on.

If they dominate like regularly do then it's game over.

If NCC figure out how to score three or four times the the O better light up like they only have a couple times.

The weather may play a big role in the SJU game-supposed to be rainy, 38 and falling temps and 25 mile an hour winds. Except for the rain, like the Dayton games of the late 80's and early 90's.
Not much of an over the top passing game. Probably a lot of short dump offs trying to get Clark in 1 on 1 match-ups.

Go Johnnies!

NOW that TDT posted, how long before he is banned?

Mr.MIAC

Has anyone here recently purchased a pair of Red Wing boots? I have a friend who's super interested in them. He's flying into the Twin Cities from Japan and wants to pick up a few pair to bring home. Any recommendations on where to find good deals?

TDT you son of gun!

I was one of the half dozen or so folks at that game. Fall break was the main issue. Nobody on campus.

I live in the Cities now, let's cocktail and chase some MILFs.
