Besides the retailers mentioned previously there are a number of Red Wing operated stores in the cities, or take a nice 35 mile trip and go to the main store in Red Wing and get a couple of pair of Red Wing Heritage boots (made in the USA) and then drop by Red Wing pottery.

Caruso can try to manufacture tradition, passion, and reverence for UST football(a video board, replays, loud obnoxious PA announcer, D1 caliber lockers) but it won't work unless it's organic.

Organic, like this: "Please turn to page 432 of your Johnnie gameday program to see if you have yellow sticker. If you do, you'll save 10% off your next Rhino Deck."

at least 20 times a game. make. it. stop

I'll second both recommendations. Chet's is great. The trip to the mothership in Red Wing (nice drive too) is also wonderful as well. Red Wing has not deviated from the high end service and quality over the years.

Thanks. I think he's planning to stay in the Twin Cities without a vehicle, so a road trip might not work. Are there any outlet stores in town that might have discounted USA-made Red Wings? To be honest, I was kind of surprised to hear that Red Wings are really popular in Japan. They make great products, but it seems like an odd item to become trendy on the other side of the planet.

Bench-you missing the Dakota Sales tailgates at the football games?

Once UND lost 16 of their starters for the year to injury, and two more for selling weed, and had to do things like start a 195lb true freshmen at MLB, I made the executive decision to sit this year out. That being said, they had Eastern Washington on the ropes last week, so the experience the young guys got should serve them pretty well in the coming years.

I think they'll bounce back big time next year and make the playoffs (they have 3 of the top 5 RBs in the nation returning), and I'll be swilling Budweiser products with the Dakota Sales boys at least once.

If there are any North Central guys lurking here, what's the best breakfast spot? Egg Harbor or Eggs Inc downtown?  What about bars near the stadium?  Jackson Ave looks promising.  Any others you guys would recommend?

Egg Harbor is a favorite for me followed by the Bloody Mary or beer at The Lantern.   That leaves you a block from the stadium.   Safe travels.
Quigley's Irish Pub has a nice selection of beers on tap.

And...we just hit a new low with our friends from Alliance on the OAC. I have now been brought back down to earth on what class and respect truly mean.

While things occasionally get out of hand and can be sometimes obnoxious (on both sides), the banter we have here is a testament to the Tommie-Johnnie rivalry being one of the best in the country, D3 and otherwise. At least from my angle, what is on display is often a faux hatred with respect for That School Up North and I hope everyone can keep it in perspective and avoid hard feelings and classless name calling.

Just about every interaction I've had with true Johnnies (and several other teams we've played - Bethel, Concordia, Wabash, UW-Oshkosh) has been incredibly positive and jovial (except for those crusty old Johnnie fans that came to the UST-Oshkosh game last year to stir up trouble) and I'd love to keep it that way, share a beer before or after the game, or a little taste of what's in my flask if it's a cold day.

I have plenty of positive and jovial interactions with horrible people Duff.

Also, I'm pretty sure the crusty old Johnn1e fans that I exchanged words with at the UST-Oshkosh are probably regulars on this board, given their level of obsession with Coach Caruso and his DISRESPECK for the unwritten rules of the game of football.

Might be the best part of the rivalry. The friendliness of it all. I was a rival hs football game this year and their were security guards preventing fans from crossing either side to connect with each other. It had me thinking, that is most of what Tommie-Johnnie is. Reconnecting, talking a little smack, sharing some drinks, and for many unfortunately, not paying too much attention to the game at hand. Their are Tommie Johnnie co-workers, weddings, etc. All in good fun. And from afar I think thats the flavor of the rivalry people get a kick out of the most. Auburn - Bama, its not thankfully.

Alright. Like DuffMan said. Enough of this softness.

Back to making stupid classless comments to back up the St Thomas stereotypes.

Mr.MIAC

Speaking of classless, what's up with MUC57 over on the OAC board?

miac952

On top of many things I wish the NCAA would do, I wish we had a little more staggering of start times for playoff games. If you go to your school's game, about the only streaming action you can catch in central time zone territory is the 1-2 first round games on the west coast. Daylight is a factor, but maybe some variability is in order. Especially now that we have hit the dawn of some really well produced game streams.

Clearly I need to go check the OAS board. Dang it, I have other things I need to do today! :P

Okay, I went and took a read. While I am not a fan of the "R" word and don't support it's use, it is funny watching Tommies, who play fast and loose with misogynistic and homophobic comments, jump all over MUC57.

Sincerely,
Bennie the Snowflake
