With all the mutual admiration, let me add mine. Tommies, with their ability to keep losses within two possessions against top teams year after year after year, are pretty clearly best team in second tier of D3. So...congrats?

I think UST did just fine against the best team in D3. It may take some time, but have faith in the process. They will get there. It took Coach Fredenburg and his staff 19 seasons to win their first title. I think in some ways UST leaves this game with more confidence knowing that what they are doing is working and that they can hang with some exceptional athletes. I mean, the defense held the #1 team in the country to one score and -16 rushing yards. That's a huge accomplishment and something they should be proud of.

I think UST's QB play was fine, considering the opponent. Could he have played better? Of course. Did he miss some throws? Absolutely. But Perra did not cost us this game. If you look at his stats, I'd wager he probably did better than most QBs this season against UMHB's defense.

To me, the issue all year has been the offensive line. They've allowed too much pressure the entire season. In 2016, UST allowed a total of 13 sacks all year. UST played four straight games last year without allowing ONE sack. Fenske was a good QB, but he was not known for being mobile. This year the OL gave up 40 sacks! I'm not sure what the issue is up front, but I think this needs to be factored in when evaluating Perra's play this season. We had four of the five OL return this year (Daulwater, Longstreet, Beck, and Lamke), but the play on the OL did not improve. They gave up 7 sacks today. Hopefully with spring ball they will use that extra time to find guys that work well as a unit...kind of like our defense.

A bright spot was Gabe Green. Wow. The kid is an athlete. If Pallini can get his groove back, UST might have a good set of WRs next year.

Another bright spot, UST returns about 7-8 starters on defense next season.

Undefeated, Defending National Champions! They are the best in D3 until they get beat.

I agree with you. As John Madden used to say, "you're number 1 until somebody beats you". UMHB deserves to be number 1. We at Mount Union hope to get the chance to play the Crusaders and, hopefully, win. Then, maybe, we could be #1.
But, until, ..................  Good luck against Brockport.
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

I will be curious to follow the discussions of the Tommie fans who experienced the CRUthedral.

I'd be happy to keep posting if there is something of value to discuss. We pretty well hit the major points on the game yesterday, areas the team needs to improve for next year. I'll give it a few days before getting into who is returning and who we expect to fill in some of the gaps.

Would love to hear some Johnnie's perspective on swapping Scholastica for Thomas More.
Anybody know who we have lined up for OOC? I'm assuming Eau Claire continues.

Serious question:  2 years now without a sniff at the semis.  Is Caruso on the hot seat?

ST. Thomas, it was a pleasure to watch your team today. lCass and excellence exudes from each position. Heck of a team with a bright future. Congrats.

Met a few of your fans after the game, and they were classy and congratulatory. Very impressed with the program and people. Congrats.
I saw St Thomas once this year.  They were defeated by my UW Stout team.  Sorry to report I didn't see any of the class and excellence that you refer to.  Played like pampered bullies and showed no class what so ever down the stretch when it was obvious they were going to lose.

I will take a moment to congratulate U$T on a fine season.  After that Stout loss, I wasn't expecting much, but the team rallied and made some big strides.  So, while I still hate everything U$T, congratulations.

You talking about your dog or the St Thomas coach?
