Duff,
Did you get to take the pallet home to build a dog house? :-\

Bench is the one with the pallet dog.

Chained to a pallet on a reservation. Am still processing that one.

I'd be happy to keep posting if there is something of value to discuss. We pretty well hit the major points on the game yesterday, areas the team needs to improve for next year. I'll give it a few days before getting into who is returning and who we expect to fill in some of the gaps.

Would love to hear some Johnnie's perspective on swapping Scholastica for Thomas More.
Anybody know who we have lined up for OOC? I'm assuming Eau Claire continues.

Has anything here ever had value?

Did SJU really swap off Scholastica for Thomas More? Just because of a little pressure for putting up a big number? or did Kurt decide it wasn't in their best interest? Somebody hit it on the head here a while back, the best non-Conf strategy is to play the best team in a very bad conference and your SOS goes way up. But what really needs to happen for UST and SJU and to a degree Concordia is: 1) Bethel needs to get back to competing at a high level again, which they can and I believe will do (hopefully sooner rather than later) The league needs 4-5 nationally competitive if not ranked teams to get their mojo back. The MIAC also needs both Augsburg and Gustavus to step it up as well. Auggie historically has and still does get some great athletes they just don't have enough of them. Not sure of the fix, maybe expand their recruiting base? As for the Gusties it's hard to say. It seems they have everything going for them in terms of academics, facilities, even athletic tradition, they seem to be just letting the gap get bigger. Typically these decisions are philosophical and made at the board and Presidential level. All things considered Gustavus IMO, should be the Lutheran version of SJU. As for the remaining three STO, Ham, Carl they have a ways to go with different paths/problems to address. Meidt got it done at STO, so we know it can be done there. We'll see what kind of reins the admin give Killian and his staff. Carleton can really do whatever they decide to prioritize. They have the $$, they obviously have the academic reputation they just need to commit to it as an institution. Sometimes starting with other sports such as basketball and track because they don't need as many bodies and/or $$ and try to get some crossover athletes. As for Hamline, I need some help here, Personally I think they need an identity and/or some sort of branding? Serious question here (Any Hamline Alums or experts) what is Hamline known for academically? What is Hamlines draw for students in general? My guess would be they will need $$ (which I have heard is a problem institutionally wide) and get their message out there. This probably the best place to start? Anyway, lots of food for discussion this week. Have at it!

I don't see it as a swap.  If I had to venture a guess, I would guess that there was some administrative pressure at CSS to drop the game.  I don't see Kurt backing down.

Pretty sure that SJU will try to fill out a 10-game schedule.

A tradition unrivaled...

Yeah, that makes sense but, boy I thought regardless, that was the best OOC game around. they should have dropped the other game (Presentation) and maybe they did.

Mr.MIAC

Congratulations to our Tommies for a great season. You made us proud.

I'm sure Presentation was a one-year deal so dropping isn't even necessary.

Yeah, you're probably right and from a diversity standpoint they need football more than any of the other schools. Although it appears that higher education doesn't really value the male conservative view point anymore or maybe I should just say conservative view point.

Best in the sense of securing a Pool C bid, but really, it did nothing to prep the team for the MIAC season.

True, but that's why the other game needed to be a middle on up CCIW, WIAC, IIAC, team (best of both worlds). Right now even Mac would be nice OOC game. They seem to be doing pretty well in the Midwest conference. Much like Scholastica, couple it with a game from the top half of one of previously mentioned midwestern power conferences.

Chained to a pallet on a reservation. Am still processing that one.

If you're ever in Devils Lake, North Dakota, just go south about 15 miles and it'll start to make sense.

I'm sure it was a big shock for the team when they played St. Olaf and only won 56-7.  They clearly weren't prepared for the step up in competition.  ;D
