Question for you. I know that while we are having winter, you are in summer. So, since we will be celebrating new year's, I guess you will be celebrating July 4th. Right? I know what you're thinking. Boy, is this guy dumb. It's OK, I know it's not a holiday down there so no big deal. Just another day!
I hope your didgeridoo does. (Again, pathetic)

The worst part is since it's summer here we don't celebrate Christmas on Dec 25th. We need to wait until it's winter in July.
Do you celebrate with Vegemite, Marmite or Promite. :)

My folks used to host foreign exchange students when I was a kid. Had 2 from Australia (both from the Perth area) and both came well stocked with Vegemite. I remember pranking a friend and putting a bunch in a bowl and said it was pudding (I was 9) - still laugh when I think of the look on his face as he was spitting it out and scrapping his tongue. Good times.

Enjoy the cold folks. I miss it. I was at Ft. McCoy in December of 04 before my unit rotated over to the Middle East (cause training in Wisconsin in the Winter is just like the Middle East  ???). Our rater lost our weapons qualifications and we were set to fly on the 27th. We had to go to the range on the 23rd and it was -17, windchill of like -29 and blowing uprange into our faces, and I had to qualify with 3 weapons. I was never so happy with a Marksman rating (my first ever) so I could get off the range. Had a guy that chewed and he didn't realize he was drooling until his face got frozen to the butt of the weapon. Funny as heck. Good times. I miss Wisconsin in the winter.
ROTFL!

SJU's Gillach to be Honored at Tonight's Sugar Bowl

Remember to tune in to ESPN tonight for the Allstate Sugar Bowl to see Saint John's University junior wide receiver Will Gillach (Lindstrom, Minn./Chisago Lakes) honored during halftime as a member of the 22-man Allstate American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Good Works Team.

A big congrats to Will Gillach on his honor as reported by OzJohnnie. I never heard his name before but guys like him deserve a lot of recognition. Kinda helps restore your faith in humanity when you hear stories like his.
Thanks Oz for the info. Don't forget to "tie me kangaroo down". (I have to stop this)!
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

They featured the Bethel player and showed the SJU player for about 1.45 seconds.  Good for both young men but maybe the hair was the tie breaker?

Mrs Oz:  I've seen that before. I don't get why it's funny.
      Me: Whats it show?
     Mrs: A person.
      Me: Uh...
Mrs: Oh. Turns and walks away as if we had never spoken in the first place.

Now wouldn't that be ironic if the corn-fed, crash and bash run-option CON offense got a WR on an NFL roster?  Good luck to him. Theilen part deux.

Give her a break.  Prior to meeting you, she probably didn't even know negative temperatures were possible.

A tradition unrivaled...

I was going to post tumbleweed but this is probably more appropriate.

The Auggies and Knights have been so good for so long it's really impressive.  It's hard to have sustained excellence like that through coaching and personnel changes.  Wrestling in these two programs and football at MUC(k). Where else?  I can't think of anything.

From the extreme weather files:

Melbourne is situated at the south eastern corner of Australia which leads to a consistent extreme weather change phenomenon in the summer.  As a front moves through winds will shift from blowing in from the central desert to blowing up from the Antarctic Ocean.  This afternoon it's 106 degrees and at 6pm the weather will shift the winds. By 9pm it will be 75 and in the morning when I walk the dog it will be 59 degrees. It's only been over 40 Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) for one day. When it breaks 40 for two or three days in a row that cool change feels like someone turned on a giant air conditioner. Cool air never felt so good.
