Showing my Johnnie ignorance here - but just what is SJ2?

It's a mildly clever Tommie play on the SJU logo with the # 1 in the U.  Since SJU hasn't beat the Tom's in a few years, they've dubbed it SJ2.

SJ1 is actually more appropriate  ;D

Well played but that would for the 7th place U$TD basketball team that might not make the MIAC tournament. Maybe it's over for Tauer....it was a nice run  ;)he and the former SJU football o-coordinator could maybe hang out...grab a cup of coffee...talk about what Kurt Ramler is up to?

"I'm a uniter...not a divider."

Wow, are the Tommies really in 7th place? Ouch! Considering intellectual psycho talk one would get from Tauer, it might be more appropriate for Ramler and Tauer to meet at Caribou and discuss what the former SJ2 OC is up to.

The parity among the middle of MIAC hoops this year is pretty crazy.  SJU is head and shoulders #1 , Hamline is OK-ish, SMU, MAC and Cord are a dumpster fire, and 2-7 (BU, Carl, Gus, STO, Aug, UST) are all entirely capable of beating each other on any given night.

It will be interesting to see how the league settles out among those current 2-7, and how the tournament shakes out.  I'll be all aboard the SJU bandwagon for the NCAA tournament.

While being a Tommie fan first (and enjoying the banter with the Johnnies) I am a MIAC fan second and will definitely pull for SJ2 and/or any other MIAC team that is fortunate enough to make the field.

Well, I've finally done it. I took the citizenship oath today and I'm officially an Aussie. A dual citizen, actually.

Happy Australia Day, everyone.

Congrats Oz! Now, it's time to set the record. Head to Canada and have triple citizenship!  ;D

I see real professional football is coming back. Johnny Manziel baby!

OzJohnnie

Nothing on the Johnnie website about OC changes. So this is rumour, right?  Well if it turns out to be accurate then I guess we will be seeing the return of AirJohnnie with a couple WRs calling the shots.  I could stand watching some of that.

(And thanks BDB and MUC57)

Congrats Oz! I think it's a good thing to become a citizen of the country you reside in. Obviously it's a hot issue these days over here. I guess I can take back the Al Gore crack I gave you a few weeks back.  ;D

Oz, I would take this to be true. My sources informed me a couple weeks back that some changes were happening on the SJ2 staff. The names weren't necessarily stated but implied to be coming from within. Somebody else mentioned it on the board here as well.

You’ve pretty much defined what a rumour is. :). I’ll wait for an announcement from the school before I believe anything or state my opinion.  Publicly, anyways.

And on citizenship, it took me a long time to decide to do it. 24 years. Divided loyalties are not my thing.  But some personal considerations on the rights of my family and wealth (such as it is :( ) protection finally persuaded me.

Ha!  My money says that nothing formal will be announced.

Super Bowl week is sort of here with some events already having kicked off. I'm trying to decide if these events are related.

Fasching and St. Thomas head coach Glenn Caruso will present about the Johnnie-Tommie football rivalry during the hour. Former Minnesota Viking and six-time Pro Bowler Matt Birk will serve as the moderator. A St. Paul native, Birk won a Super Bowl (XLVII) with the Baltimore Ravens in 2013.

St. Thomas football coach Glenn Caruso will be a presenting speaker at the NFL's Super Bowl Experience next Sunday afternoon. The event is being held at the Minneapolis Convention Center, and the coach will talk in Sunday's 4-5 p.m. session, hosted by St. Paul native and former NFL pro bowler Matt Birk.

Indeed, these sorts of things aren't always formally announced.
