Yep, this kid's a player. He's a tad undersized but, that's why he's a D3 LB. Looks to me like he has a chance to be special. I've always liked the Blaine kids. They are tough "lunch pail" type kids. He reminds me of Tony Danna.

Looking forward to all the MIAC football signings today!!!  :P ;D ;)

Anyone know who UST will play for their two non-conference games next season?

I don't know for a fact.
I presume UW-Eau Claire is still on the schedule and I've heard indications that our second game with be an NAIA team.

UWEC has games scheduled for Week 1 and Week 2.

2018 St. Thomas Non-Conference Games (Tentative)
9/1/18 VS. Concordia-Chicago @ UST
9/22/18 VS. Eau Claire @ EC

So I guess the NAIA rumors were false. Conc-Chicago fits with the recruiting profile of Chicago kids. I wonder if it'll be a 2-year contract with a home and home.

You and Duff!

I follow fairly closely the Gophers and other Big Ten recruiting battles and National Signing Day so it feels odd to see UST and any other MIAC school list dozens and dozens of recruits who have committed. FBS teams can have 85 players on scholarship and up to 105 on their roster up to the first day of classes so usually a NSD class is 25 or so incoming freshmen and transfers.

This flood of committed and/or "signed" MIAC players on Twitter and this board almost makes a mockery of the event. I understand the D3 "submit a deposit" policy but are we supposed to assume all these UST kids listed here and all the various kids on Twitter have submitted a deposit?

Ha! Actually though, the next week could be considered D3 commit week. All of the scholarship "bubble kids" that didn't sign will now begin to commit to non-scholarship programs.

Yes, either they have or will submit a deposit very soon. This day and age "Twitter" is the medium used by the millennials to announce their intentions on most endeavors (jobs, engagements, vacations, you name it, etc.). Obviously, at D3 they can change their minds without penalty other than maybe slightly damage their integrity. It used to be facebook, now it's twitter and instagram. The kids do get a lot of congratulatory feedback from friends and relatives. Personally, I think it's a good thing. Also, all of the schools (Auggie included) have plenty of these commitments. They just don't seem to have anyone on these boards with enough inside information (or that actually cares about it until next season) to post it here. Anyway that's my take on it. Just something to do until August.

Yep, don't really care to speculate who may or may not "be special" in 2-3 years......
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Awww 105, you hurt my feelings :'( I guess I should just be honored that you care enough to read (and quote) my expert analysis of UST recruits. However, there's no speculation on my part as these boys are and will always be "special" in the eyes of the Lord and their parents ;D

What's even more bothersome is the number of kids Tweeting about their offers from MIAC / D3 schools. What the hell are they being offered other than a mountain of debt?
And let's just state the obvious fact that the Purple Propaganda machine is doing something behind the scenes to make sure they lead the MIAC in player "Commitment" Tweets. I guess that's how it is with the attention starved generation. SJU probably needs to step up their game when it comes to social media...maybe get a communications student a work study job or "internship" on the football staff.

I’ve spent the last few days in Bombay (aka Mumbai) and this place is the world’s greatest madhouse. Traffic, people, general all around chaos. I forget what it’s like but then I swing through again and the champ always delivers.

I’m posting this because this place is so utterly different than the world of northern Minnesota that it’s beyond polar opposite. Alien is a better word.

EDIT:  It’s funny but the thought that always occurs to me is “How do they feed all these people?”  You’ll pass through sections where little old women are sitting on the dusty, broken pavers of the roadside, crowded with people, motorbikes and decaying buildings,  with a stack of 20 limes for sale on a small blanket in front of her.  Where do they grow the limes and how does she get supplied with 20 to sell?  And how can there be enough margin in 20 limes to keep food in your belly. It’s a hell of a world.

The year is young but I have to believe Faunchy you are in the lead for quote of the year thus far! That's a classic! Just an FYI, I am told by a local millennial that SJ2 has at least as many "Twitter Commits" if not more than UST. They just are not finding their way to this board. Personally, I would love to see how the John's class is shaping up or any other MIAC school for all that matters, particularly where the Minnesota kids are going.
