A loss by any other name is still.....a Loss  (with apologies to Shakespeare)

Shakespeare would probably prefer:
A loss by any other name would smell as ****e.

Except that's a corruption of the original Romeo & Juliet line regardless.

Ease up fellas. I wasn't around here at the time, but I'm sure in 2013 our very gracious Johnnie friends on this board were quick to point out that St Thomas only lost by 2 points and did not at all bring up the wide left FG.

SUMMIT!!!!!

How about this Auggie recruits signing day!! Well done young man.

After this weekend the Auggies look good! Basketball takes down UST and SJU, Hockey takes down SJU. Wrestling vs SJU takes....oh never mind! You don't want to know! There is a Monkey something in there.

I may have to follow this kid on Twitter just to see him eat breakfast, take out the trash, fold laundry etc... stuff that normal people do everyday yet he finds fascinating enough that he puts on his Twitter feed. ::)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Here is another Auggie recruit; Reese Norby from Elk River. I have watched him and the two Rogers players I posted last week many times. Glad to see the Elk River and Rogers players going to Augsburg.  Good football teams.

MiacMan or anyone - What do you call that offense run by Elk River. As I said, I have watched it for years vs Rogers but I don't recall what it's called. It is extremely hard to see who has the ball due to the great ball fakes by the QB. I know a referee who had a meeting with his crew before an ER game and they agreed to avoid the whistle too early. If you have not seen it before, watch the hudl on his Twitter. It is a crazy offense.

looks to me like they are running "Wing-T" without the motion. This is pretty much to what the Cobbers run only they use the motion and some other more sophisticated variations. The ER staff would be wise to spend some time with Coach Horan, he's the best there is when it comes to this style of offense.(Except for the Cobbers)Teams that typically aren't great or not very deep upfront use this because of the ball control aspect. I like the kid (Reese Norby #55) going to Auggie next year. He looks a little undersized but he gets after it! He plays til the whistle and is always down field looking for another block.

ER FB coach Hamilton brought that offense from Georgia is how the story goes.

I agree this young man is undersized for a next level lineman but it looks like he will be a linebacker based on his Twitter.  When you watch him hunt down defenders to block he looks like a linebacker. I think I saw middle linebacker somewhere.

Ah yes, that makes sense. He's got a nice motor. Linebacker looks like a good fit. If it doesn't work, it's ok to be a bit undersized at guard, he's either pulling or combining with the center on somebody and then moving on to the next level.

I've called bull**** on  U$T and I'll call it on SJU!  MIAC and D3 should not have "Premium" Ticket Pricing.

Faunchy, tell us how you really feel >:( It is nice to know you are not biased when it comes to this issue. Personally, I don't begrudge either of these programs the right to capitalize slightly on this game. Hey, it's nearly always a great game and if these two programs can bolster their budgets a bit because of this game I'm fine with it. Maybe they'll back off a bit when it comes to soliciting us for donations, ah, yeah right ::)

I got my SJU ticket renewal invoice today with mention of "6 home games including a premium game."  Hmm...

Just getting around to following up on this -- just for fun, according to my cabin spending "spreadsheet", Johnnie season ticket costs since 2008 (for two tickets):

08 - $80
09 - $80
10 - $120
11 - $140
12 - $120
13 - $132
14 - $140
15 - $170
16 - $170
17 - $192
18 - $212

No editorial comment at this point.  We initially sprung for season tickets so we didn't have to stop by Clemens early and tie down our blanket.  $80 seemed cheap.  Then we got the chance to get reserved seats, so we went for it.  I'm gonna guess that's when we bumped from $80 to $120.  Still climbing . . .
