The Hawks take on the Melbourne Demons in a few hours in what is a bellweather match.  Melbourne have finished mid-table the last couple years and this year looks the same.  So if the Hawks win then they look to have the goods for a post-season run.  Lose and they are likely to be working hard for another middle-of-the-road finish like last year.

Go Hawks!

It was a YUGE victory for Hawthorn tonight as they overran Melbourne 115-48.  In fact, the game was close at the first quarter break when Melbourne led 35 - 23 but the Hawks turned in an utterly dominating performance from there on to outscore Melbourne 92 - 13 from that point onwards.  The victory came at a cost, however, as premiership superstar forwards Cyril Riolli (MCL strain) and Paul Puopolo (hamstring tear) have both been lost for 8-12 weeks, half of the remaining season.  The pair are key parts of Hawthorn's high pressure forward line and losing both will challenge the depth of the squad.

The highlights have many, uh, highlights.  But the most spectacular is at the 3:11 mark in the video when young defender James Sicily uncorks a 75 meter bomb from deep in the back pocket, Timmy O'Brien taps it on and then it's a foot race as phenom Jeager O'Meara turns on the afterburners to pull away from three Melbourne defenders and soccer through a goal to start the third quarter.

This game announces this year's Hawthorn squad as contenders.  Not yet favorites but in the top group.  And everyone gets a little nervous when the Hawks are circling the goal square.

Thanks Auggie! The other one might be too many of those Milwaukee's Bests over the years that Muc57 was talking about.

I say enjoy watching football while you still can.

Exact. Won't be long and we'll be posting on D3DebateClub.com. Everything else will be outlawed.
US Rules only. House of Commons Rules would be considered too violent :)

Ha!  I just saw this post.  "House of Commons Rules" made me snort/chuckle.

BDB,
My 90 year old sister just called from Green Bay. Worst snowstorm since 1887! Drifted to the top of the windows on one side of the house.
Hope you are OK in Menomonie.

Hope your sister in Green Bay is OK! A little harder to deal with that kind of weather as we age. I guess you and I know a little about that. Wow, sounds like a ton of snow up there.
Also hope BlueDevil Bob is alright. Don't really know where Menomonie is, but since you brought it up, they must have received a bit also. BDB, let's hear from ya!
We were lucky in Alliance, just got some rain. Had a tornado warning for awhile, but nothing happened. Maybe God is a Raider fan. OK, maybe not.
Best to everyone. ☠🇷🇴

I mentioned after the last snow storm that I refused to shovel this stuff. That refusal remains, although my house looks like it hasn't been occupied for a month.  ;D

I would have preferred to let it melt, but there was no way I would have gotten to work without my trusty snowblower.  Also, we were running low on TP!  :o

I caved! I Had to get the vehicles out of the garage. We get tickets in St. Paul for any obstruction on our walks. The postman leaves a warning and you have like 3-days before a citation is issued, $150 I believe. I wish I could hand out tickets to the city for not plowing promptly, St. Paul will probably just let it melt. We have to save money for more bike lanes.

Mrs Oz wants me to let you know that she does not miss Minnesota weather.

(Although Minnesota is a lovely place to visit, she hastens to add.)
