He got 8 matches, a bit over 1/3 of a season.

I reckon he was pretty lucky as the fact that he had never been sanctioned, penalized or reprimanded ever in his entire sporting life (He played on state representative teams in basketball, tennis and footy since he was 12, apparently), including not a single fine for even rough conduct in 10 years of AFL football (and that's pretty damn rare).  I think that influenced the panel to believe him when he said he never meant to hit the other player in the mouth.

The other player, 18 years old, will lose five teeth, take four or five months to recover and will require more surgeries, including at least one under general.  The doctors don't know if the bone will heal well enough to allow dental implants or if he'll need some other sort of denture.

I tend to think he should have been banned for a year, even with his stellar record of fair play up until this point.  Those injuries were gruesome.  But he gets a little over a third of a year instead.

Well, the weekend in footy ended very poorly after what had been the tightest round in 112 years.  A player on the West Coast Eagles king hit an 18-year-old Fremantle rookie playing his 17th game of senior footy right in the mouth.  Four lost teeth.  A shattered jaw.  Blood everywhere.  It was very ugly.

The kid's mother was freaking out as she thought her boy was dead as he lay on the field unmoving and medical staff are running left and right, obviously distressed themselves.  The rest of the Fremantle list went after the West Coast player, knocking him out in a legal but very hard tackle.  Old school justice.

Anyways, it's interesting to see what will come of this.  Potential criminal charges I would think.  I've never seen anything like it.

I don't love that as an error message, but Kickoff goes live tomorrow.

Error code?  I assumed it was your personalisation engine just recognising BDB.  :D

Hey -- sorry, when we're on crunch time putting Kickoff out the door I barely have time to breathe, let alone check the message boards. Email is always the best to report an error, for sure.

Relax, Pat.  I can see you're under pressure.  I was implying that your marketing system recognised all of BDB's submissions here are null.  (For all the Tommies, that means empty.  No value.)

<--- I guess I can't argue with Oz saying my posts are null. They pretty much are. But we do have one thing in common. Both of our avatars are from Australia. Mine is a former Miss Australia that has graced my posts for a dozen years. His posts feature a giant rat with big ears holding a beer.

Therefore, I get by on good looks and can submit null. Oz gets by on content and beer.  8-)

You should have left the post unedited, ;)

For all the Tommies out there: in the Empire a 'z' is uzed far less often that it is in the liberated nations.  And after this many years I can't be stuffed spelling for the audience anymore.

Agree OZ, and you did have a historical and plausible response. +k

I was having some internet problems so I was visiting websites I never usually visit to see if they were loading properly after playing around with the modem.  I should visit them more often.  This headline grabbed my attention!  Who knew Mrs Oz had been to Dubai recently?

Dubai tourist racks up $45,000 in speeding tickets in 4 hours

Traffic cameras caught the 25-year-old breaking the speed limit 33 times on July 31 in a rented Lamborghini Huracan at speeds ranging from 78 to 142 mph.

The wheels are really going to start falling off when you start using whilst around these parts.
