The Johnnies have their 2018 roster up online.  Only 170!

Thoughts and questions:

QB Jackson Erdmann is a junior, should be a solid leader this year if healthy.

Is QB Reed Smith from Lakeville North a "significant" recruit?  A likely starter down the line?  Help someone not that familiar with the Twin Cities HS scene.

RB Kai Barber back on the roster.  Please find a role for him.  Please let him be healthy.  How old is the guy??   :D

LB Danny Pietruszewski is only a sophomore???  Wow.

RB Kenneth Udoibok listed at 230lbs???  Please find a role for him too!!

I've always wished for a little more beef on the D front 7, especially at LB.  Several guys listed at LB over 215lbs on the roster, I hope a few of them are ready to play and meet the "speed standard" SJU has traditionally had for LB's.

Dan Greenheck All-American at OL as a junior - thank you, things look good for next year!

Intriguing freshman - OL Lucas Candelaria, 6'7, 350lbs, from Fairbanks Alaska.  Hmmm . . . . .

TE's Auger and Streit - great pair.

Now if only we could get the St. Cloud paper to cover the practices and do some reporting.

Lakeville North had a pretty good squad last year so I have to believe they had a decent QB. I do know the kid from Owatonna (Havelka) is a nice player. He has potential for SJ2 down the road. My inside sources say they are expecting significant contributions this year from Udoibok.

I'd agree with that.  He played a decent amount in some blowouts last year, and he is a gamer.

Reed Smith was a high school senior in 2016-17.
His senior year they went 9-2 and lost to Pizza Grace in the playoffs.
It appears he didn't play in the final game against Grace...maybe he was injured?

There is a pretty good chance we will see a "Jumbo Package" with 3 TE & 2 big backs in certain situations this year.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Did his parents raise him on raw bear meat?   What a monster.  That's a big fella.  I hope he develops/delivers some great talent.

Someone had posted that article a few months back.  We'll see how the kid pans out!

A name I don't see on the roster is T.J. Hodge.  He returned some punts and kicks last season.  Maybe one MN winter was too much for him.

As would be the case for 98% of us non-Minnesotans (is that a word?)
Hell, I want to move south from the PA winters...and they have been warm :P

Sounds like UST has moved Dowdle to OLB. I would say that's a logical and easy transition. He has the size and is a pretty tough kid. He probably should have been playing there all along.

Mr.MIAC

We're only a few weeks out from football time. I think this is Glen's year...

jamtod

What's your source for this? He played LB his Fr/So years if I recall, but did very well at CB last year. Seemed we always had solid LB depth, but I hope this means we've got better depth at CB now, as that's been a bit of a weak spot outside of the top couple of guys. I'm not even sure who I'd expect the other starter to be if Dowdle moves to LB. Franzese and??? Hird? Petersmeyer?
