I'm a bit confused as to what you (all) are referring to as "checkdown" If you're like me and refer to it as finding the 2nd, 3rd and sometimes 4th receiver, it's exactly what I want. I don't want my QB's (nor does Coach C, or any other coach in the country) forcing the ball to his 1st receiver. You go through your reads/checkdowns if nothing is there, you either run or throw it away.

I can assure you, Coach C as well as every other coach in the country (at all levels) has a goal that addresses winning the "turnover battle". Now, it may not be zero, but in 99% of the cases "turnovers" are addressed in the goals/objectives on both sides of the ball.

Every "turnover" +/- increases or decreases a teams chance of winning by around 10%. It's too big of stat for a coach to ignore.

I think most are referring to 'check down' as throwing it to the safety valve, not going through the progression downfield as you suggested. Instead of throwing downfield, to throw it to the back who is usually at or behind the line of scrimmage. At least that is what 'check down' means to me.

I also don't think it is a bad idea to have a goal of 0 turnovers but turnovers do happen and it is part of the game. I don't think it is a good idea to stress it as being so important that ball carriers are afraid of contact or the quarterback taking some chances, but it still should be a goal of every team to eliminate turnovers. Just like it is a goal to score more points than your opponent. Having goals to strive for is a good thing IMO.

I still think it is kind of an odd thing to say, especially since UWW has been a perennial power house team. I don't follow them that close, so I'm not sure how good they are projected to be this year (I see they are currently ranked 12th), but I wouldn't be surprised at all if UWW could beat every team in the MIAC. I don't see why they would have to beat UWW in order to have 'any chance' of winning the MIAC, especially if it is a close game - thats's all I'm saying.

If you listened to this morning's podcast, you will understand when I say "copy editor". Secondly, I was using hyperbole. Of course I know that they can lose to Whitewater and can still win the MIAC.

Are we good now?

Yeah, we're good. I wouldn't have had any issue if you would have said if Concordia beats UWW then they have a good chance of winning the MIAC. I just had an issue with you saying losing to UWW means they don't have any chance of winning the MIAC (and you did say 'any' chance). Yes, I do take things too literally sometimes. :)

That is about as close to a Bethel mutiny that I've witnessed since The White Silly disappeared. :o

There was an Ole from Texas whose name escapes me at the moment.

Actually, I was thinking recently that I miss TC's long breakdowns of the Twins' performance.

This is just plain hilarious.

Not a name from very long ago but seriously missed: ChicagoTommie

He was/is an original. C'mon back CT!

CT. How could we forget him?  He came in like a wrecking ball and no one knew what to think. Then we realised he's half cut half the time and a whole new category of drunk posting was invented.

Hey all, I'm still alive. I follow the board durning the season and tend to post when things get cooking. Really not much to say about the Cobbs victory over Neb-Wesleyan, and today versus WW is a dicey time to do much trash talking. Nice of y'all to remember. Don't know where the other 2-3 semiregular Cobber posters went.
If the human brain were so simple that we could fully understand it...we would be so simple that we couldn't.
