I had high hopes for the Auggies at least to make a game of it yesterday.  What happened? Are they just not there yet?

Pat Coleman

So, as a parent of a 20-year-old and two teenagers, I agree with Old Auggie's list. And sorry, but UST was my oldest kid's safety school. (But don't feel bad -- mine was St. John's!)

They're a safety school!

Yes -- they couldn't stop the Concordia 1's and Augsburg's starting QB was also hurt. Plus their starting punter could barely get a punt off.

I just put 2 kids in college the past 2 years. I used to get a lot of mail. Tons from universities large and small, close and far away. Many I had never heard of in cities I'd never heard of.

That mail was college recruitment, and junk mail and bills.

Now I just get junk mail and bills.

"Not there yet" is too kind for what I saw yesterday.   Losing Frisell was not good but even with him on the field it would have been a similar outcome. Maybe 56 to 21 or something like that. "Out classed" is more accurate!!

Now the big question is:
Did the Saturday evening games put a crimp in your weekly Saturday trek to the Pines Ballroom in Bloomer? I noticed you left our site early. :)

You don't wanna see me dance, 57. I'm like Elaine Benes on Seinfeld.  :P

I didn't know I couldn't dance until I quit drinking.  :D

Thinking about the "safety school" discussion, UST is very similar to Villanova. They're both the premier Catholic university in their region. At the national level people might think of both institutions as safety schools. However, within their respective regions, the general public views them as highly prestigious.

Seriously, Rev, just give it up.  Your drivel is old, and I don't give a **** for your overly-inflated view of St Thomas.  It's played out, and I, for one, have had enough of it.

So, uhh..
Anyone have thoughts about the new Top 25?
http://www.d3football.com/top25/2018/week3

Tommies and Johnnies holding steady at 3 and 9. Concordia with a few votes. And Thomas More with a nice showing this week getting a few votes. I will be interested to see how their year shapes up leading up to the matchup with St John's. That's the kind of marquee non-conference matchup I would love to see for St Thomas, even though I think the Johnnies will handle them easily (akin to the way I see the Toms handling the Johns).

+k. I hate to agree with you, but this crap gets boring and tiresome. Isn't there a collegeboard discussion board for these kinds of discussions?

Quick, everybody post your SAT and ACT scores, GPA, and which pocket you keep your wallet in.

Let it go, man. There is nowhere interesting or engaging for the safety school discussion to go. It's not an objective concept and it's just not all that interesting.
