I was just at a bar in DC watching the Vikings game, joined by lots of Minnesotans in town for a healthcare conference. I was wearing a UST sweatshirt and a Vikings cap (it's the purple thing), so the Minnesota connection was clear.

Anyways, I had lots of conversations with the group; a number of folks thought that outside the U of M, UST, Carleton, and Macalester, the universities/colleges in Minnesota were pretty much safety schools. Thoughts?

You've basically posted this exact same "safety school" rip on an annual, or semi-annual basis.

At least get some new material, jacka$$.

I do regularly rip on SJ2. That's banter associated with a rivalry. The Johnnies do the same with UST. I don't do so with other MIAC schools, at least not nearly to the same degree. There isn't the same rivalry.

Yesterday I asked a legitimate question based on my interaction with a group of Minnesotans here in DC. I noted my connection to other MIAC schools, and also acknowledged that UST benefits from lots of marketing. That seems fair.

I have no problem with people critiquing my question or coming up with answers that rip UST. However, the personal attacks are unnecessary.

Seriously, Rev, just give it up.  Your drivel is old, and I don't give a **** for your overly-inflated view of St Thomas.  It's played out, and I, for one, have had enough of it.
+k. I hate to agree with you, but this crap gets boring and tiresome. Isn't there a collegeboard discussion board for these kinds of discussions?

Quick, everybody post your SAT and ACT scores, GPA, and which pocket you keep your wallet in.
With the family in Chicago this summer and we stayed near Loyola University Chicago. A beautiful campus, right on the shore of Lake Michigan, it had the look of St. Thomas on steroids but a co- worker said it was really for kids that can't get in to DePaul University.  Even Loyola is a safety school.

Ummm.....no offense, but here in Chicago, the perception is flipped. Loyola is seen as hard to get in to, and DePaul is viewed as the backup plan for kids who want to go to school in the city, but couldn't get in to one of the other options (although, DePaul is more highly regarded than UIC!)

Oh interesting. No offense taken. Apparently I was caught up in the rivalry myself and appeared willing to  believe anything. Which I did of course!

I don't intend it as a personal attack - my fault - more so meaning to call out this particular bit / behavior as being of the jacka$$ nature.  The fact that you've run the "most other MIAC schools are safety schools" line on such a regular basis is just lame at this point.  I'd say the same about the "UST shouldn't be D3" topic.

I actully find a fair amount of your "poke the bear" humor in relation to the SJU culture kind of funny, but nobody here is impressed by credentials, yours, or anyone else's, so get over your false sense of UST superiority and at least try to keep it closer to football.

Not to brag, but I just got new tires on my truck and I have central air in MOST of my house. Like to see some hotshot from Carleton afford that.

This winter the wife and I are hoping to have a house that isn't on wheels and that stays parked the same place.

I just watched SJU's highlight clips from Saturday--that first TD strike from Erdmann to Streit was a thing of absolute beauty!

Could this be a kinder/gentler Glenn Caruso?

UST was 6/9 with 55 yards passing and 1 TD.

The 3rd stringer did throw 4 times, but it was one slant to a TE he sailed and a few bubble and WR screens he missed on, one of which the QB threw so poorly it resulted in a 4 yard loss (so technically 5 times because I think that went down as a rushing play). Other than that, it was a steady diet of fullback dives and freshmen RBs running between the tackles.

I mean, it was 35-0 with 14:54 left in the 2nd quarter. Vatican should consider canonization IMO.

Add to that the kneel down on 4th down in the redzone against Trinity Int'l mid-way through the 4th and the fact that we have yet to go for 2-pt conversion.

Maybe Coach C has taken all the heartfelt, well-intentioned criticism here to heart.

Downfield passing against an inferior opponent should not be lauded. Poor sportsmanship IMO.

Even though it was the first TD, clearly was just rubbing it in their faces because they knew the game was going to get out of hand, imo.
