Also, it seems like e-scooters are all the rage now. Has anyone here used one?

Bird and Lime scooters came to the metro this past summer and became pretty popular.  I've been on one just for fun - and it is very fun - 15MPH seems quite fast when you're on a tiny scooter.  My brother in law, who lives a couple miles west of downtown in St. Louis Park, and works downtown, thought they were so much fun that he bought one for about $500 that he commutes with on days when it isn't supposed to rain.

Did you feel safe? I'm not so much worried about the speed. It's the cars, more precisely the poor drivers in cars, that worry me.

I was on the trail around Lake Calhoun...pardon me, Bde Maka Ska, so yes, I felt safe.

I am pretty old school in the driving department. I drive a 1989 Chevy pickup. It has rubber floor mats, crank windows, a 5 speed stick and came new with no AC. Yes, it is my daily commuter. My wife drives a 2005 Nissan Sentra. Both are easy to maintain, and when something breaks I cannot fix, like a crankshaft sensor on the Sentra earlier this summer, any after market shop can get NAPA parts to fix it. This summer I did put in a new clutch and pressure plate in my pickup as regular maintenance. The original one lasted 98,000 miles.. Ended up taking two weekends because the exhaust manifold studs broke and had to be drilled out. Also swapped in a different rear end because the one that was in it started leaking below the passenger's side spring clamp. I bought a parts truck and was able to prep ahead of time so the actual swap only took one weekend. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I actually enjoy wrenching on stuff occasionally.

I think Northwestern and St. Scholastica (despite the lopsided loss to SJU) are looking to be decent fits. Northwestern seems to be a natural rival for Bethel and has MIAC level facilities. CSS lacks the facilities, but will be the sole DIII school recruiting the Duluth area heavily, and could have an opportunity to steal some central lakes kids.

If you don't agree with me, then I'll just fire up my UST and SJU/CSB should leave for the Pioneer League/Horizon League argument again. JK.
I don't see any conference changes happening but the rivalry is definitely alive and well with Bethel.  Hopefully we can get them on the football schedule sometime soon.  CSS definitely doesn't have many on-campus competition venues but maybe when they need to replace the turf on their practice field they might turn it into a stadium.  The upper rows facing East would have a pretty nice lakeview.

In high school I would wrench on cars in with my father. I had a classic Firebird. Our previous Audi started having lots of timing problems, and I took a look under the hood. The thing was so complicated and required so many proprietary tools that I couldn't do much with it. We brought it into the Audi dealership and they said the engine needed to be rebuilt or replaced. It was 2K miles out of warranty, so the estimated out-of-pocket cost was $17K. I went nuclear. The only reason we went with another Audi is because they gave us the full market trade-in value on the one with a bad engine.

We have an Audi sedan, but it mostly sits unused and we're thinking about going carless. We live in a row house downtown and might have made a mistake when we bought the place. A private parking spot was available nearby, but they wanted $50K for it and that just seemed like way too much. So for the past few years we've been parking on the street, where hoodlums regularly break into cars, people scratch the hell out of your bumpers because they don't know how to park, and the city likes to tow you (at $350 a pop) if you're in their way during weekly street sweeping. After repairing lots of damage and paying crazy money in tow fines, that private parking spot looks pretty attractive. If we go carless, there's always the subway, taxis, and Uber. Also, it seems like e-scooters are all the rage now. Has anyone here used one?
Gas motor scooters are getting more popular around here and quite safe. You don't need a motorcycle license if you stay below 50ccs. Schwinn makes several with electric or kick start and CVT for &1300 to $1600. They are also 4cycle. I suspect they are a little difficult to text and drive however. ;D

I ride a kangaroo.

Surprising. Paul Hogan is a BIG Subaru guy. Figured Aussies just kind of followed suit with whatever Crocodile Dundee recommends.
Subaru outsells everything else here and we don't have many crocodiles :)

Of course you don't. Paul Hogan lives there.

How heavy? Can they be brought inside the house? We have a problem in DC with people stealing Vespas. Thieves cut the lock, load them into a truck, and takeoff. E-scooters seem attractive because you don't have to leave them outside.

I drive a Toyota Tundra 4X4 pick up with a 4.7 liter V8. I use the 4WD often while hunting or driving the 2nd daughter to Chanhassen in that big blizzard last year. We are recent empty nesters so those days are over. I need the truck bed for my dog boxes and 2 hunting dogs, the dead deer I haul in November (the blood washes out quickly with a hose) and the drift boat I tow during the summer.  I don't consider myself to be a red neck but I probably look like one while driving down the road especially with 2 dogs in their boxes and/or a dead deer in the back. I will never have country music on the radio at any time and even though I live across the River from Elk River I don't have those loud, extended, vertical dual exhaust pipes like all the Elk River guys drive while listening to their favorite country music. My wife and I both park in the garage every night and not because we are worried about crime but it keeps all of the clutter down in the garage. Some nights we forget to put the door down on the garage and never have any theft, well any that we know of. I like big cities a lot - Chicago, New York, San Francisco and DC are my favorite as they have it all. Minneapolis is getting better each year with new cultural opportunities and entertainment options. We live 30 minutes from downtown.

Probably a little heavy. The model I looked at was 160lb dry wt then 1.4 gal. full. Honda, Polaris etc make versions that may be lighter.
Honda super cub at about 120, Vespa about 140 and quite a bit pricier.

Browning, Remington or other?
Beretta shotgun for bird hunting and Winchester Model 70 .270 for deer.

Remington was fantastic and I liked the Wingmaster but recent business developments have ruined the brand.  Sad deal.

Elk River - no comment.
