Speaking of hunting, I have an extra pair of Barbour Tweed Sporting Breeks that I was going to put up on Ebay. They're new with the tags.  I bought them as a backup pair, but they were never used. Retailed at over $250, but I'd give a heavy Post Patterns Discount. If anyone is interested, let me know. They look very similar to this pair:

I'm a Carhart guy, but if they come with a Elmer Fudd hat I might consider it.

I would have thought you already had a pair. Aren't you on the UST alumni shooting team?

Nope, but I was in the Dakota Flockers duck hunting club.

I actually went to a hunting-themed wedding up in North Dakota once. The day before a bunch of us guys went out to a makeshift range on someone's land. After a few hours of drinking and shooting, some of the guys were loaded and unloading on anything that moved. The next day a few of them were still drunk by the start of the wedding. It didn't help when the groom's family carted out a bar on wheels outside the chapel. I hear this is pretty typical for North Dakota weddings...

Yes. Yes it is.

Small world story. I had to give a presentation for work. When I got done, people from the audience started approaching me to ask questions. One of the women looked vaguely familiar, but I meet a lot of people. She asks me, "Did you go to College of St. Benedict?" Sure enough, we actually lived together one summer and she graduated from CSB with me. There was hugging and laughing! I am sure everyone else (who didn't hear our conversation) was impressed with how very friendly I am! ;) ;D
That is a great story.
I don't have many classmates that are alive.  :'(

How do I get on that team?  I'd love to shoot some UST alumni.

Ah yes, jokes about shooting your fellow man (and woman)...stay classy SJ2, stay classy. I shy away from trying to constrain humor, but when are jokes something other than banter? When they make light of shooting people...

MiacMan and I have too much in common--we both cart our wire-haired bird dogs around in Sequoias!  :o
You guys will be proud of this until your dog gets in to a skunk. When this encounter happens, not if. Next problem with an SUV comes up when they decide to  roll in something disgusting.  That's always fun.

A pick up truck with dog crates in the bed and they can marinate in that stink until you get to a pet wash. Could be days.

I don't know that I'm "proud" of it.  The SUV just fits our lifestyle right now.  If we didn't have kids, I'd have a pickup in the garage.

Oh, and I always carry a skunk kit in the back.  ;)

A tradition unrivaled...

... Or a porcupine! My late bro-in-law had a long haired basset that tangled with them three times.
She was a great dog and hell on cotton tails but a slow learner. :o

OK-no guns, dog died 3 years ago, but have an SUV-2015 Tahoe.
How about golf clubs-what is everyone using these days with no Nike clubs?

jamtod

No guns, no dogs, and I mostly take the bus to work these days.
We have a 2008 Honda Odyssey for toting the kids around (4 kids) and a 2011 Toyota Prius (a much more sobering purchase than the mini-van, but my parents had it and gave us a good deal after my old car got totaled in a car accident, gas mileage is great, etc).

My wife has shot a gun more than I have. I was on board with getting a dog, but we ended up with another child instead.

I'm a really sad excuse for a rural Iowa native.

Dodge Ram, more guns than I know what to do with, two dogs but they aren't bird dogs so they don't come hunting.

I'll be in section 131 on Windy Lake (25 miles NW of Tofte) in late October to fish and scout out the area, then back two weeks later for deer opener. I've never deer hunted in heavily wooded Minnesota before, so it'll be different for me. Used to walking all day.

I have been reading your recent posts. I live in Ohio. I don't hunt or fish, don't own a gun, have never owned a pickup and my dog died about 12 years ago. I like to feed the ducks at one of our local parks. I know I can never match up to you guys, but does that make me kind of an outdoor person? Thank you for your consideration and Go Minnesota, whatever that means! 🔫❗️

Dodge Ram as well, no guns and a shih tzu.  That's suburban Chicago livin' right there.

The Ram is awesome as we can pack it to the gills with tailgating stuff.  Also hauled furniture up to son in Minneapolis this summer.

I'm surprised you guys aren't going with AR platforms. In my circles, mostly folks in the national security sector, lots of people have at least one AR that they like to mod. I thought it was pretty common outside these circles too.

A simple 870 Wingmaster guy, here, but I did inherit a sweet little Fox side-by-side 20, which was a tremendous grouse gun. Will confess to a deepset fear of Winchester Model 12s, ever since a Minneapolis hunter decided to clean his gun in deer camp and sent a slug through the tuna noodle hotdish.

To change the subject only slightly, are used Lunds worth the premiums you seem to pay for the name?  (It is Carleton week afterall.)

Feeding ducks is called baiting and it's unethical if you're a hunter. Outdoor person cred denied.

I was afraid of that. Thanks anyway. Hey, I live in Alliance. What do you expect? Keep in mind I' m old. And have you ever been to Alliance? Not much here. Mount Union and a bunch of ducks.
But, I once knew a guy that had a gun and used to hunt. Of course, that was a long time ago. Guess I'll never make it in Cheese Country. Oh wait, that's the other one isn't it? I gonna go now! ☠🏈
