Tailgating is going to be a zoo.
The understatement of the year. There will be RVs parked in the tailgating lot beginning on Wednesday. I-94 will be backed up at least 3 miles on the way in. Get there plenty early is all I can say.

All Johnnie and Tommie fans

I really enjoy watching you guys go back and forth on these boards. Good, clean jabbin💝💟g at each other. Makes me envious. Wish Mount had a rival like that. John Carroll has been a big rival lately but their big rival is Baldwin-Wallace - cross town Cleveland and all that. Oh well.
If I said "Go Johnnies, Go Tommies", would that be too wishy-washy? OK. In that case, Go Johnnies, Go Tommies! Remember, I'm old. Don't pick on an old guy!  ☠🏈🍺

Pheasant opener...  I'm trying to decide if I can hunt an hour or two before heading to the game. :-\

Hey Johnnies. I'm beginning to put together my plans for a Tommie-Johnnie pilgrimage to Collegeville (I'm skipping a family church event to go, so I told my wife I'd stop by the chapel after the game to make it legit). I'll have a few friends with me and maybe a 6 and 8 year old.

Anything I should know about the tailgating circumstances up at SJU this year? Is there a way to get tickets online beforehand so we don't have to get to the ticket booths early? I'm not too worried about getting a good seat over on the Tommie sideline with the rest of the beautiful people.

When preparing to address Johnnie fans, always look at forehead pitch. Anything below 45 degrees try to keep your conversation as monosyllabic as possible. So instead of "Can you please give me directions to the chapel" say "Where church?"

This will keep them from lashing out aggressively.

Also, don't be alarmed by the cattle guards when arriving on campus. This is to keep some of their fans from wandering onto the interstate. Keep in mind, some of them appear docile, but food may be hard to come by that day so be sure to keep a safe distance.

You're from NoDak, you know what cattle guards are. I know what cattle guards are. But most of the others may not truly appreciate your subtle humor.  :D

As an Iowan, I appreciated it.

All in good fun me boy.

Hyperbole aside, I've actually driven over some several times on the campus of NDSU.

GoldandBlueBU covered it, and I wholeheartedly agree with his critique of it.

Actually, there have been bars in MN that have been busted for illegally hauling in kegs of it.

One such example:  Felony charges for former Maple Tavern owner, manager who sold Spotted Cow beer

My favorite New Glarus product is the Octoberfest called "Staghorn."  I am pretty indifferent to the Spotted Cow.

With some trepidation I admit that I'm a clean, bitter, lager type of guy.  Ale has no cutting taste.  It's too bodied.  And the micro-breweries try too hard to build complex flavours that overwhelm the simple, clean flavour of hops and barely.  Fancy yeasts.  Wheat instead of barely.  I don't like it.  Just give me sharp, cold, traditional lager.

Now, don't go making me beer in those big steel vats run by robots.  A little human intervention is appreciated.  But keep the flavour simple and clean.

The AFL Grand Final between Collingwood and West Coast was played yesterday and it was a fantastic, hard-played, high-tension game (unlike the fare offered today in the MIAC, unfortunately).  It also included the big Texan, Mason Cox, who is the first American to ever play in a Grand Final (and also the tallest man to ever play in the AFL at a couple hairs under seven feet).

Highlights are here.  If I see the full game posted then I'll provide the link to that as well - well worth watching.

Oz, thanx for the links - watched the last 5 minutes one. Obviously, Hawthorn didn't make it to the Grand Final, but how'd they do in the play-offs? I could Google it, but it wouldn't have your insight and flavor.

They lost in the second round, unfortunately.  A number of key guys played with normally disqualifying injuries (one with a couple broken ribs which was a fair effort, another with a torn rotator in the shoulder, etc) so they got beat.  But not beat badly - they played their best.  Importantly, they showed some really good, consistent team play and game structure this year that is quite hopeful for next year.  So fingers are crossed.

The two-week trade period opens in five days and the Hawks are already very heavily linked to one of the best pickups, a highly skilled midfielder who will give us three all-star talents playing in the guts.  Tom Mitchell, one of our in-the-guts players, won the Brownlow medal this year as the best and fairest in the competition, the top individual award in the comp.  Basically, it's MVP but you also can never have been suspended (only one time has a suspended player taken the most votes and lost the award).  Best and fair.  We're also linked with a secret big, tall forward in some back-room trade deal.  Hopefully it comes off.  A big man up front to replace cancer survivor Roughie coupled with three all-star midfielders will be just medicine needed to compliment our already dominating defensive scheme.  It can be a very good year next year.

To be honest, Spotted Cow is fine, but it's overpriced for what you are getting.  I'm not one to shy away from expensive beer provided that the product is worth it.

I bought some Fulton Specter the other week.  I couldn't find it last year, so I was determined to get it this fall.  It was dang good!

$10.99/case beer has it's place, too--generally on a boat.

I have been hooked on Alaskan Amber this summer. Although lately, it's been diminishing in my desire. I don't know if it.s just a case of familiarity or that it was different enough at first to appeal to me.
