Barkley had a terrible groin pull in one of the first games and wasn't himself most of the year, Hilliard sprained his ankle really bad and was basically playing on one leg, Hall broke his foot. We were a MASH unit in 2002. They were almost forced to play me significant minutes. Could you imagine?

Barkley still rushed 24 times for 129 yards against us.
If you were wondering, I had 2 solos and 2 assists.  ;)

Yeah, after the Stout game Barkley was pretty much on the Earl Thomas practice regimen, which I'm sure annoyed him.. Pretty sure you'd get kicked off the team if you merely got within 3 feet of him. You probably touched him more that game than our entire scout team defense got to that season.

But on Saturdays, he could still flip the switch. Tough dude.

Absolutely. But if it's less than 3 TDs, are you significantly concerned?

No.  Strange things happen.  SJU barely eeked out a win over a mediocre U$T team in 2003, then went on to run the table and manhandle a Mount Union team that had outscored playoff opponents 161-24.  Comparisons are difficult; that's why they play the games.

Right on, and I remember 2003 well!

We were not even mediocre. We just had Andrew Ubbelohde.

I didn't go to many games but I can still hear in my head the PA announcer "Tackle by Ubbelohde." Until now, I didn't realize what a big deal he was. I had some classes with him I think.

Fantastic guy, fantastic teammate. Had Marine Corps ROTC over on the U of M campus everyday, with PT starting at like 5am. Then a full day of class, then practice, then homework, then showed up on Saturday and casually recorded 10 solo tackles, a pick, 2 TFLs, and a sack. Just an absolute machine.

I see you remember the 2003 Stagg Bowl. Oh yeah? Well several of Mount's starters couldn't make the game, most of the offense and defense had the flu, both QBs had wrist damage and the officials were obviously biased toward St. John's. So there. Do you remember that?

Don't worry, MUC57.  I was a junior for the 2001 semifinal game where we got walloped by your boys in Alliance.  It was fun to play in Alliance, but the outcome sucked!

I hear some Johnnies like spending time with females, which is against the entire ethos of the university. Without having a dominant football team to distract them, some are lost and in jeopardy of seeking out unnatural relationships on the campus in St. Joe's. Discuss.

And this board is about to explode in 3....2....1....

Unlikely.

Rev is the Perez Hilton of the MIAC boards.  Frequently throws out offensive posts in order to stir the pot.  Personally I gave him +k for not trotting out the old "MIAC schools other than UST and Carleton are safety schools" line.

Just getting tuned up for Sunday, the start of one of the more entertaining weeks on this board.

I'm 99.9999% sure that Rev is his own man, a genuine Tommie, and were are left with the legacy of TDT.

Last time we had a TDT sighting I believe was during the Home Run Derby when the All Star Game was at Target Field 2014. He was very near where a foul ball landed and someone on here posted a screen shot.

TDT is everywhere and nowhere, all at once.

TDT contacted me within the last few years (I think) for some PDX info. He was coming out to bond with our Linfield friends. It has been awhile though...

Is that why they never called a hold on the MU offensive line? They held every damn play...especially on their first touchdown drive.

I'd like to meet SJU in the second round at the CatDome.... I'm pretty sure we'd get our ass kicked.... because Trump would hold a rally in Newberg at George Fox... LOL!

I was just kidding MiacMan. No bias I know of by the officials. If Mount's o-line was holding, it didn't help. The Raiders 1st touchdown drive was their ONLY TD drive. St. John's deserved to win that game.
Mount went in pretty cocky after beating Bridgewater 66-0 in the semifinal in Alliance. They found out they had to do more than just show up.
Whatever happened, The Johnnies won. As I said, just having fun with MiacMan. Go Johnnies! ☠🏈

Ross Denne threw for 408 yards!  I now remember that the U$T defense looked like they'd never seen shovel pass before.
He should have been pulled after 3rd Q. He ended up with a high ankle sprain & was out for 3 weeks. When he returned he was at about 60% & couldn't run the option effectively. The 2002 team should have beaten Trinity in the National Semi-Finals & who know with a QB at 100% what may have happened.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!
