I'm surprised that SJU didn't put out a warning to U$T students to leave their Lambos at home and drive their G-Wagons this weekend.  Those supercars don't do well on the miles of gravel required to get to Collegeville.

A tradition unrivaled...

Got my warning in the University of Scorin' Tuddies Alumni newsletter. They also told us to wear our plastic watches because rats are attracted to shiny things and your fans might try to come nibble on our bling.

Hansen Ratings prediction and game score is out.

His model has us favored by 9.3 points with a 72% chance of winning and a (rounded) score prediction of 31-21. The game score isn't super high because of that spread but for anyone in their right mind, this is the game of the week across D3, even before John's passing.

Speaking of cars, when someone stops at an intersection and lets you guys wash their windshield, what are you expecting in return? Are most Johnnies happy with loose change (every little bit helps) or are they really looking for a buck or two?

Will the pajama crew be traveling along to lay down to allow St. Glenn to cross any puddles without getting his feet wet?

Down in the city, we have more modern ways to avoid getting your feet wet. Things like concrete, drainage, and closed toe shoes.

This reminds me a bit of November 2006. Bo Schembechler dies the week of Michigan - Ohio State. Both teams are going into the game undefeated, #1 and #2 in the country at the time. There was a lot of emotion and energy that swirled around the rivalry that week. Ohio-State won a high scoring game in a nail biter and earned their right to be the prohibitive favorite in the National Championship game against an Urban Meyer led Florida team.

Anyways....back to your regularly scheduled shenanigans.

I honestly can't see SJU winning. But would obviously love to have this prediction appear on Freezing Cold Takes. Johnnies are really good, I think. Just think Tommies are better. And I think SJU can do damage in playoffs, even with a loss. Will definitely be a lot of emotions there, although would John have maybe had a "no win one for the Gipper speeches" rule, so Gary can't even go with that.

Or maybe I'm just channeling John here with the gloom and doom. One of the fun stories I found on his early career was from 1953, John's first season at SJU, when legendary columnist Jim Klobuchar wrote about SJU's upcoming game vs. a strong Hamline team. Some John quotes:
"We don't have a chance. I don't see how we can possibly win. That line of theirs--oof. I watched them against St. Thomas. No weaknesses. Well I did spot a third string tackle who moved kinda slow. But he probably won't play until they start mopping up. I expect to age 50 years before this game is over. If they put the game on TV, I think I'd rather stay home. I never realized how small we are until I saw Hamline. I have nightmares about Donlin, and I don't have to play. Imagine what Vilandre (star St. John's halfback Casey Vilandre) must be thinking. I feel guilty about sending this team out there. If we're lucky we'll make a couple of first downs."

Two notes:
1. Casey Vilandre is Lindsay Whalen's grandpa.
2. St. John's beat Hamline 27-0.

So....I guess the Johnnies will prove me wrong this week and win 27-0.

Mr.MIAC

So if UST is victorious on Saturday that will be five Tommie wins in a row. The administrators over at SJ2 must be getting pretty anxious. Do you think we'll see any coaching changes if the Johnnies lose?

UST can tighten up at times. The playcalling gets tighter. Mistakes are magnified. That is something SJU can exploit. Look back to last year. UST wins 19-6 on first downs, 390 yards to 150 yards, but they only win by 3. It should have been a two score game. But, a fumble costs them 3 points, and an interception takes away a good scoring chance, and two big passes put touchdowns on the board for SJU. Same goes for UST's playoff game with MHB. Outgain MHB, but lose the game.

If UST doesn't make mistakes, but opens up the playbook a bit, they likely win. But if Erdmann catches fire and is well protected, and the defense or special teams come up with a big play or two, the game flips.

All I know is but for taking a safety in a game we should have trusted our defense, and an in-opportunistic fumble, a 3-7 nothing burger UST team could have taken out the eventual national champs in 2003.

I'm not lighting any cigars just yet.

SJU fans and UST fans
(Or is it - SJ2 fans and U$T fans?)

I'm really enjoying the banter and bad jokes going on this board. I read them and laugh out loud. Going to be a great game Saturday. Rivalry games like this don't listen to records or hopes and wishes from supporters. I'm sure no one from either team will leave anything on the field.
Mount Union plays at winless Capital this weekend. I'm staying home to listen. I'll also be closely following your game. Gotta be the game of the week (year?)!
I don't have a favorite team. I have chatted with really nice people from both schools. I'll just say I hope the better team wins. No injuries and continued success.
Go Johnnies and Go Tommies! And just in case of any perceived sign of favoritism,
Go Tommies and Go Johnnies! 😃🏈😃🏈❗️
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

Not even I see coaching changes.
Sfury is sounding like tdt in the above post, not good.
I hear TDT has his purple ready to go!
