Careful, my friend. I myself am old. I sometimes stand around with other old people eating free food.
OK! I just made that up. Or did I? Go Old People! ☠🏈❗️
haha! I was actually going to call the old people in my post "less cool versions of MUC57", but i didn't know how that would be received!

St John's posted the game notes on Saturday's 88th Johnnie/Tommie game. St Thomas has won 4 straight for the first time in modern history. That's cute! Do they compile game notes or is their history not worth documenting/remembering?

Our game notes generally go up on Friday. Not quite as in-depth as yours though. I like the starting lineup diagrams y'all have at the end. I'll be printing a few copies of that for my 8 year old, as she was watching a bit of Johnnie-Bethel film with me earlier this week to scout out which of the bad guys we need to watch out for.

Make sure she studies up on the Johns' assistant coaches.

Why did the Tommie get so excited about finishing a jigsaw puzzle in six months?

Because the box said it was for "2 to 4 years."
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Ahhh, reminds me of Aggie jokes

Two Johnies walk into a hip bar in St. Paul.  They strike up a conversation with the bartender, who's a Tommie his boss is from Macalester.  Well, it's time for a hip band to start up and the two Johnies put condoms on their ears.  The Bartend asks the guys "what's with the condoms?" to which the Johnies respond, "we don't want to get hearing AIDS"

Two St John's "student athletes" were walking through the woods and came upon a set of tracks.
The first Johnnie said "Those are deer tracks."
The second one said "Nope, they're too big for deer tracks. They must be elk tracks."
As the debate raged on they were hit by a train.

may want to be careful on this one, I think it was in the early 80's when a pair of St Thomas students got ran over by a train in Stearns county...

Beyond stupid using this joke.....2 SJU students were run over on the train tracks in 1986 before the game with CST....this game has been extensively written about because Deinhart chose not to score 60 when he had a chance.

To quote Bret Hart on John Gagliardi, "The Best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be."

Stanbob,

You are a good poster that doesn't need to apologize....you didn't tell the joke that was tasteless.

I appreciate you charitably pointing this out to me. I will grant ignorance of the situation, given that I was 2 years old and living in Iowa in 1986 and this is the first I've ever heard of this story. I tried looking up a link to the story but could only find a site which would require a login. I'd be happy to peruse any articles about this game, considering it was extensively written about.

I apologize and have removed my original joke. How's that old saying go?

This is the best I could find about 1986, but no mention of the train incident:

Quote1986

In Dienhart's last year as head coach his team stormed to a 56-21 win in Collegeville. With the game in hand, the coach backed off in the final quarter instead of pushing for more points. His defensive assistant Jerry Miller would have loved one more score. A decade later Miller was diagnosed with cancer, which would eventually take his life. "We all went out to see him in his last days," Dienhart later told a St. Cloud reporter, "As I went to leave, Jerry called me back and told me: `I'll never forgive you for not scoring 60 on Gagliardi when we had the chance.' "
