I stand corrected. UMU and SJU.  Sounds like old times.

One of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn't belong...   ;)

Yeah, I know. But MUC57 is such a nice guy that I thought it would be rude not to acknowledge Mount Union.

Mostly, I find it A - Humorous because this strikes me as something that if UST did, SJU fans would be ripping, but since it's SJU, it's fine, and B - Annoying because I'm too much of a cheapa$$ to pony up and watch the game, even though I'd like to see it instead of just listen.

UST is hard up for cash, I guess.

Oz,
Did I understand right that you will be at the game?  ???

Yessir. I'll be there with bells on. The last Johnnie/Tommie game I went to in Collegeville was the heart-stopping OT victory. I'm hoping that it turns out it was me who gave that extra bit of Magic (tm).
Watch out for the Rev's azure purple Bentayga!  He doesn't realize that a Hummer is better suited for our Johnnie roads. Mrs. 57 and I will be there in spirit.  :)

For A, it absolutely is. If I had more energy or cared, I would have dug up Oz's comments about the Target Field attempt to separate Johnnies from their money and tried to square them with being fine about this.

I also enjoyed seeing the Johnnies have to squirm and defend the 98-0 thing. I tried not to pile on because I really don't care, outside of the really blatant stuff, sometimes things get out of hand and your guys still want to play hard and whatever. But nonetheless, I appreciate the irony.

It is true that if UST did it we would scream like gut shot panthers.  But it's also true that UST would charge for one game only so our ire would be well-earned.

Ever seen a Supply-Demand curve Oz?

There was plenty of grumbling from Johnnies, if not publicly on this forum, in private conversations, for sure.

Went through the Johnnies game notes, still get a kick out of seeing how they created their own alternate unofficial attendance record for last year to keep the streak alive.  That Target Field game and the couple hundred thousand the Twins gave to the Tommies as their guarantee probably has more to do with the Johnnies charging for webstreams than fear of losing attendance does.

I chuckled at that also.

How about some serious bets on the attendance figure for this Saturday? The football product itself (and weather, cold but dry I think) suggests a baseline of about 17k with historical precedent. I would think that should be easily surpassed. Will we see 20k+?

The Johnnies maintain a curve. UST is more of a supply-demand spike.

What's the difference between SJU and UST?

About 80 miles and 4 Football National Championships.

Looking at the weather forecast right now 48 degrees and 12 mph wind, I'll take the under on 17k.  That's good football weather but I think the big crowds of the past few years was supported by the much warmer September weather.

Did you hear about the UST grad who locked his keys in his car?

He couldn't get his family out.

Ha!  This reminds me of a story I shouldn't retell but it's too funny. I got a call at work almost 20 years ago from Mrs Oz who was grocery shopping with our year-old #1.  She was in a fluster as she had locked the keys in the trunk of the car when she was loading the groceries, it was extremely hot and she was worried about the heat with #1.

It was the week of the single biggest deadline on project I was running but, you know, the kid was about to cook so I jumped into the car and took off like a madman for the Hampton shops.  I pull up, jump out of my car, assess the situation, and casually walk over to where she's sitting on the front seat sideways with her feet on the ground and a red-faced #1 on her lap.

"I'm so sorry," she says. "I know this is a big week for you."

"It's no worries," I reply. "I'm always here to help. So you need me to open the trunk?"

"Yes," she says.  "I locked my keys in there like an idiot."

So I reach down next to her knee and pull the trunk release.

She hates that story, but I still laugh about that.

Forecast 2 years ago was similar temperature (maybe it was warmer, it was September I guess) but steady rain/drizzle with 16.5k people. And that didn't include ??? additional people coming back for funeral services or people that attend for the tribute.
