Congrats from me too on #4000. I missed it until I saw the post from repete. You don't need help from OzJohnnie. He's probably in the outback with his roo trying to find his boomerang.

MUC57-thanks. I hope both teams continue on the road to championship, so long as we don't meet in Alliance-in the semis-was there in '93-that was enough for me.
Good luck to you guys the rest of the way!

U$T2 or the always favorite U$TD

I wouldn't have put any money on SJU and after the first couple of possessions I thought we were in big trouble.
I've heard that last year SJU practiced the same offensive game plan and then shelved it just before the game. I've said for a couple years that you can't expect to run against U$T with their speed and pressure. Plays need to go north / south not east / west. It will be interesting to see if other teams apply the same game plan against U$TD.
Last year when UW-Stout beat them they threw for 263 and ran for 50 yards.
It also helps to have a quarterback that can sling the ball like Erdmann.

How about a trip down memory lane?
I was there in '93 also for the Mud Bowl. SJU came in averaging 61+ points a game on the regular season. Sports Illustrated named Willie Seiler the player of the year and has his picture on the cover. Jim Ballard, Mount Union QB, was pissed at that and said I'll show them who's the better QB! As I'm sure you recall, Jim threw 8 TD passes, which I think is still a playoff record. The Johnnies didn't score until the 4th quarter. Final score - Mount Union 56 - St. John's 8.
I thought it was a great game. Of course, you got us back in the big game in 2003.
Great chatting with you and good luck on the rest of the season! ☠🏈

Congrats to the Johnnies on a huge win yesterday.  They played great and the victory was well deserved.  Better team won by a mile yesterday.  Now go run the table, and get that top recognition for the playoffs.  Who knows, may meet again somewhere down the line.

RIP John

Getting back to beer:
Bill Coors, grandson of Adolph, passed away at 102. Bill was responsible for the development of the aluminum beer can.
This is absolutely NO endorsement of any Coors beverage products.  :)

Oddly enough, aluminium cans in Aus are referred to as "tinnies".  A bottle is referred to as a "stubbie" while a bottle close to the size of a 40oz is referred to as "bottle".  A case is a "slab".  A draft refers to Carlton Draught, a brand name, while if you want a beer on tap it's most commonly called a "frothie".  And a pitcher of beer is called a "jug".  (Needless to say, plenty of comments when a waitress is carrying two.)

If you want a class of beer, then you order a "pot".  Or a "schooner" for 14oz.  A "pint" for 16 oz.

I walked around parched like a teetotaler for three years until I learned how to order a drink.

I met one of the Coors sons back in the 70's at a Penimsula Markrting Association meeting when I lived in California. Which begs the question, "who the hell cares?". Just thought I'd mention it! Bye!
