That's a real journey. Australia/New Zealand is one of the only places out of the U S I would like to go, (maybe a golf trip to Ireland/Scotland) but that's a daunting task.

Some great golf down there too, Ret. A few years after my Aussie trip I snagged a dirt cheap RT fare ($499) to Auckland. The only condition was you had to fly on the first anniversary of 9/11. Airports were deserted.

But NZ (insert rebuttal by Oz here) was great. I spent 10 days in a camper van and found a rural links course along 90-mile Beach. Only saw one other golfer all day ...except for the bar, where a bunch of locals regaled me about what a jerk Steve Williams, a local, was.

New Zealand is a great place.  Beautiful countryside.

I heard a story once about an American and his family traveling NZ and enjoying the sights.  They came across a farmer herding a number of sheep alongside the road.

The American slowed down and said, "Hey there, friend.  Are you going to shear those sheep?"

The Kiwi replied, "F*** off, mate.  I ain't sharing these sheep with anyone!"


(It works best if you read the Kiwi in an NZ accent, which can be grating and mispronounces almost every vowel.  Also, awareness the Kiwi penchant for man-sheep love is helpful.)

SJU/STO game notes are out.  STO stacks up well stats-wise.

True, but their wins have come against Crown, Luther, Carleton, Auggie Tech, and Hamline.  They got Monkey Stomped^TM by Bethel.  I can see them hanging tough for a quarter or half, but SJU will pull away. 

I think the Oles will be finishing the season with a 0-5 streak.

We haven't been to Oz but also spent 10 days on North Island. Beautiful country and great beaches. It helps if you are vegan or have a taste for 9 year old lamb  which we do NOT. Rented a 40 ft motor home (diesel with 6 on the left floor). The two lane leftabouts are real fun.

Interesting tidbit from the SJU game notes.  The rushing TDs allowed by U$T and SJU on Saturday were the first allowed by either team this season!

I think I've found the secret to why Concordia sticks with their offense:

Horan was an All-American while playing at Concordia from 1985 to 1988. He still holds the school record for most touchdowns in a single season as well as reception, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns for a career. He also is the second all-time scoring leader for the Cobbers. He was a three-time All-MIAC performer and garnered All-American status in his senior year.

Horan doesn't want to give up those records!
