BU creamed the Cobbers.

Was this an intentional joke or did it just happen naturally?

Good win for Stout helping the Johnnie SOS.

It was a grinder on the road in some crazy weather. Nice win.

I guess the same applies to Eau Claire shocking Platteville

The Johnnies need to find a kicker before it bites them in the arse.

Priority number one. They should put a practice net outside every dorm with mandatory tryouts.

Ha!  Unintentional, but I wish I could claim it.

I had creamed corn last when during my visit home.  It's the only time I get it and I can't believe how much I miss creamed corn every time I have some.

Oz - that's hilarious - I took it as intentional at first read. You're a born writer, right?  ;D

MIAC week 9

No real surprises yesterday and looking to next week Augsburg has the bye.

Going to do a bit of projecting with three weeks left in the season.

Hamline is currently winless, faces Bethel at home this week and then goes up to Collegeville to meet the Johnnies. I don't think anyone expects them to win either game. As mentioned, Augsburg is off this week and then hosts Bethel in week 10. Again, I don't think anyone is going to expect them to win that game. In the last week of the season Augsburg travels to Hamline, and the two winless teams in conference battle will duke it out for the bottom of the pile. Augsburg does have two non-conference wins, but Hamline will have the home field advantage and need every bit of edge it can muster.

St. John's has to travel up to Concordia, then hosts Hamline. They should win both of those games, though the Cobbers may try to make a game of it. Then they host the last non-conference game of the season closing out against Thomas More. (I wonder if this is the last non-conference game in all of D3 this season?) At any rate they should win and close out the season undefeated as MIAC Champs.

Bethel heads to Hamline and then to Augsburg over the next couple of weeks on the road, while the Tommies host St. Olaf and then travel to St. Michael to tackle the Gusties. While St. Thomas has the tougher games, nobody thinks they will lose either of them. That sets up another great game at the end of the season as the Tommies visit the Royals in week 11 to determine who is second best in the MIAC, and gets a shot at a playoff birth in pool C.

The middle of the pile is a little murkier, as some of the 4 remaining teams still have to play one another. Carleton hosts Gustavus this week and then has their bye week. I suspect Gustavus will win this one, making Carleton's conference record going into the last week 2 – 5. Concordia hosts the Johnnies and then plays in Northfield at St. Olaf. This will be the game of the week in week 10. I'll go out on a limb here to say that the Oles have the edge in this game, handing the Cobbers their fifth conference loss for the season. Finally, Concordia hosts Carleton up North on the tundra in week 11, where they should post their third win in conference play.

As mentioned earlier Gustavus should win at Carleton and lose to the Tommies, taking a 4 – 3 record into week 11. St. Olaf should also lose to the Tommies and can win against Concordia, then they will also be bringing into the final week of conference play a 4-3 record. The game is in Northfield and I think that gives the edge to the Oles.

If this all plays out like I think it will, all four conference games in week 11 have the makings of being for pecking order and will be the best week of games in the MIAC all season. And let's not forget, the Johnnies cannot afford a loss in week 11, or even a let down as they face Thomas More, if they want any hope of being one of the top four seeds in the playoffs.

A few observations regarding the Johnnies:
1. Offense really looks like they're switching up formations and are a lot less predictable then they've been in recent years.
2. The up tempo offense is a nice addition.
3. Our crop of receivers might be on of the best we've ever had.
4. Do we wear the red pants for games that we're pretty sure we will win?
5. Henry Trost has got some serious speed.

One more thing. The kicking game needs to be fixed! In blow out games, as in the past two weeks, it hasn't hurt but in a close play off game a blocked or missed PAT or FG can make the difference between advancing or turning in your equipment.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Mr.MIAC

Someone recently told me that most UST football players are wearing equipment donated by the Vikings. Does anyone here know about this relationship?
