My concern vs UST is that the weakness SJU exploited (throwing it all over the field) is not BU's strength this year. This is an old school BU team, ala Wetzel and Aakre years. Very physical and athletic D, very good OLine play. Very physical runner at QB and solid RB's. We've won those kind of games against UST in the past. But my guess is it'll be a blood bath kinda game. BU does have some nice WR options, but Roste's forte is his ability as a runner to set up the pass.

The last time that Bethel was able to beat UST (2013 and 2014), was the Erik Petersen era, when BU was a very capable passing team.  The last time that a ground and pound BU team was able to simply out muscle them goes all the way back to the playoff win in 2010, which I'd say was before UST had developed quite as much as they have now.

I'm afraid that Bethel's current formula for success will fall short...unless that is, Bethel has been "hiding" an aerial attack, like those sneaky Johnnies did.     ;)

Those are some ridiculous spreads!  :o

We've had 7 games with monkey stomp differentials of 50 or more and I see at least 3, maybe 4 more in the horizon.  There were a total of 7 last year.

DuffMan

Thus far in MIAC-only games, I have noted:

9 Total Monkey StompsTM including 1 Monkey StompoutTM
9 Total Double Monkey StompsTM including 7 Double Monkey StompoutsTM
and
1 Triple Monkey StompoutTM

A tradition unrivaled...
MIAC Champions: '32, '35, '36, '38, '53, '62, '63, '65, '71, '74, '75, '76, '77, '79, '82, '85, '89, '91, '93, '94, '95, '96, '98, '99, '01, '02, '03, '05, '06, '08, '09, '14, '18, '19, '21, '22, '24
National Champions: '63, '65, '76, '03

Super unfair IMO!

And just one missed XP away from an even 10 Monkey StompsTM. Yes, it's been quite a lopsided season.

Mr.MIAC

So SJ2 is known to be UST-lite when it comes to academics. Now that they've bested UST in football, is it safe to call them a school for jocks?

You probably want to apologize to the rest of the MIAC except for Concordia.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I am sure with your wonderful SJ2 education you are bright enough to know that those rankings are in different categories. For example, UST is in a National universities category which includes over 300 schools including Harvard, Princeton, etc while the other schools are ranked in Regional University or National Liberal Arts categories which are smaller.

And yet this eludes you.

Keep pumping those tires, though.  The buggy will look like a monster truck soon, I'm sure.

Mr.MIAC

So I'm a member of the Minneapolis Club, and we try to stay/dine there whenever we're in town. There are always plenty of UST folks at the club; not so much when it comes to SJ2 folks. Maybe they're up in Collegeville, busily polishing their trophies...

I'm sorry, I thought we were discussing USTs lack of academic rigor and your buddy's bogus evidence, not our lack of football national titles. I'll try to keep up.

Oh my goodness, the academic card ... last refuge of the vanquished.

(And, of course, every college ranking report has a formula that can be gamed, including the "apples to apples" Forbes report. Same goes, BTW, for the Wall Street Journal/Higher Ed Times ranking which has SJU 89 spots higher than USTD.)

Rev's descent to trolldom is picking up pace. But I'm glad he's doing his part in lowering the Minneapolis Club's median age to 83.

That's all right.  I'm patient and don't mind if you're a little slow.  ;)
