Any of the Johnnie faithful making the trek to Moorhead this weekend?  I'll be watching from the comfort of my living room.  ;D
I'll be in my regular reserved seat in western Colorado.  ;D

I'm GenX.  I'm not looking for any dance clubs... just bars, I guess.

Maybe somewhere I can talk Pat into coming to, as well.

We've got plenty of that.  I'm a suburban dad and haven't been on the scene in Mpls in a while, so take this for what it's worth.

Uptown is for hipsters.  I avoid it like the plague.

The entire area has exploded with microbreweries in the past 5-10 years.  The North Loop area is pretty popular now--Target Field is there.  Downtown West wouldn't be a bad option.  Northeast can be fun--not sure if there is much for lodging in that area, though.

Thank you, Duffman.  I appreciate you taking time to lay that out.  Minneapolis is one city I haven't spent much time in and you saved me from having to rely on a coworker who has been there one time.  I'll probably stay away from Uptown.

I hope to bump into as many Saint John's fans as possible on game day.

For the TMU/SJU game, I will be arriving at MSP on Friday.

Where should one stay if they want to be around some nightlife in Minneapolis?  Downtown West or Uptown?

What kind of nightlife are you looking for?  What generation are you part of?

There's no shortage of hipsters in the North Loop, just more professional hipsters.

I've tried enough "holiday" beers.  Nutmeg and cardamom are not meant to go into beer.  :-X

I have a distinct memory of drinking a few of these at my future in-laws house in Le Sueur, Minnesota on Christmas Eve 1993. It was my last Christmas as a single fella and I must have been crazy head over heels in love because I actually thought the beer was pretty good. In fact I think I brought a six pack of it. I had been working part time at a liquor store in up in Plymouth at the time.

Ha!  The day you sat drinking holiday beer with the in-laws was the exact day I left the American shores for Australia.

I would suggest checking out a couple breweries in the area...there's plenty to chose from:
https://www.mncraftbrew.org/find-a-brewery/

If you end up in St. Paul I would strongly recommend checking the new Keg and Case Market. It's located in the former keg room of the Schmidt Brewery on W. 7th Street.

For those of you that don't know W. 7th Street is not the same as it was 10-15 years ago.  There are some great dining and drinking options.
Seventh Street Truck Park https://www.truckparkusa.com/ is worth checking out too.

How do you know I'm not actually BU56?!?  ;) ;D

I was going to say that the fact that you have a GIF in your profile, and an image in your signature, would both provide clues that you are comfortable enough with computers to not be in your mid 80's.   ;D

Score predictions for St John's game against the Cobbers? Even though they appear to be down, I hope this isn't a trap game & no doubt they'll be playing for pride. Hope we keep it rolling one week at a time! How fitting would it be to run the table 15 years after the last national championship & during the same season that John passed?! I'd love to hear from anyone that has insight into how this year's Johnnies compare to the 2003 team!

Now back to football: corn hole, what's the deal with Concordia this year?  Have they been dealing with some injuries?  Is Kragness just not as good as the QBs of the past?

Hey Carletonknights. "Corn hole" hasn't posted in years, but I'll take the question. Actually I did take the question in the post immediately preceding your question, but whatever...

I have spoken to a few issues with the Cobber offense this year (IMHO). Defense is decent, but when the offense turns it over constantly they can't hold ground forever.

Kragness has a fine arm. He gets no time on (still rare) pass plays, and the receivers are not big targets, so most of his throws are on the run and accuracy wanes in that all too frequent circumstance. When he gets outside, I feel he thinks pass too long, whereas previous quarterbacks who were more effective in this offense were more willing to be the third option runner and just tuck and run for good yardage.

Biggest problem (besides turnovers) is lack of a big first down push up the middle. Not sure if this is O-line or lack of that big bruising back that could get 4-5 yards very consistently on first down. I have seen way to many 0-2 yard first down plays, which just kills this offensive scheme.

Was hoping for a better year. Cobbers looked like worldbeaters against Augsburg and Hamline early. I thought they sleepwalked through the Gustavus game. Bethel was simply bigger and quite clearly the finer squad last week. Cobbers had fight..I don't think they went into the game demoralized. I don't think they will have a hard time giving St. John's a fight either.

Not expecting a trap game, but if the Cobbers can hang on to the ball it could be fairly close. This year's Cobbers are clearly missing a couple pieces to the puzzle this year, and they turn the ball over way too often. St. John's defensive speed will give the Cobbers fits.

I expect the Johnnies to take this by 21. Of course, I'd love to be really, really wrong.

A close, even heart-attacking Johnnie victory.  The Cobbers will play for respect this game.  They won't go over meekly.  It will be chilly, wet and sloppy.  Perfect conditions for a slugfest.

But the Jays are primed.  They will prevail.
