Central got dropped one in OT today to Coe. 3 way tie in ARC between Simpson, Dubuque, and Wartburg. Simpson and Dubuque to play next week. If Simpson wins, they're likely Pool A rep from the ARC and probably regionally ranked. Big boost to Bethel's Pool C resume.

Which begs the question, could UST or Bethel sneak in with two losses and the MIAC get 2 at large teams in?

UWO's loss to UWSP means no WIAC pool C. Lots of other carnage today as well. Lots of football to play.

But man, it'd be fun to see 3 MIAC teams make it in and make a run. Good look for the conference if it happened and they played well. As Dusty would say ... Developing ...
I believe Bethel can lose a tight one to UST and squeak in if Salisbury and Illinois Wesleyan win. You have to figure Hardin Simmons, John Carroll and UST grab 3 of the 5 spots which leaves Linfield, Bethel, Muhlenberg, Wheaton, Salisbury and North Central looking for 2 spots but Bethel SOS could give them an edge over Muhlenberg, North Central and Linfield so it could be Bethel, Salisbury and Wheaton for 2 spots

Congrats on wrapping up the MIAC championship and the AQ into the playoffs. Best to the Johnnies, unless you have to play the Raiders. I still have nightmares about 2003. I'm sure John is very proud of you guys.
(Please notice I never once referred to you as SJ2, like some unscrupulous posters on this board would do. I would never do that. OK, once, I might have, in passing, in one of my posts hinted at that designation! But, if I did, I didn't mean it in a bad way. Not that there's anything wrong with that.)
Good luck in the extended season.

When do the first regional rankings come out?

Since I'm from Wisconsin (a long time ago), I am allowed to bring cheese to the board. :D
Just got some Haystack Mountain Funkmeister. It is a soft ripened funky delight. Would pair well with good beer. Wimps need not try it. :)

Chew on this one...

Hmm... that's interesting. With substantive penalties and no means of appeal or review it seems to me there's a pretty bad lack of due process.  Despite the fact that the rules state officials' decisions are final, I feel that is more for things like a holding penalty not a four-game suspension which can be meted out after the match with film review and player injury assessments, etc.

It will be interesting to see if this goes anywhere.

Another question. How is it that UST seems to have a hyped up headline on the front page of d3football.com every Sunday when the top 25 selectors are considering selecting?  I'm not accusing Pat or anyone else of a pro-Tommie conspiracy but instead suspect there's some sort submission process which gets your stories selected and posted by the site's content engine.  And the Tommie program has that process tuned to within an inch of its life.

Observe the Sunday front page for a couple weeks and you'll see that the other top programs let their play on the field do the talking for them.  ;)

And what's $5k going to get you in court anyways?  Bench or someone else would know how much lawyer time that gets you. One brief and a single appearance?  In comparison to this family the MSHSL has bottomless pockets. $5k will never beat them.

$50k at least is my guess. That's what you would need to take on the State.  This will go nowhere. They are hoping some bad press will get them the result they are looking for, otherwise it will disappear.

Oz.... Touchy subject here.
My experience leads me to understand if d3 thinks you're going to go more than a couple rounds in the playoffs, you'll get your front page then.
Now is time to highlight the less fortunate.

Possibly, but I seriously doubt the d3 people would be in on any grand conspiracy.  My guess would be it's all automated and then fed by a feedback loop based on views.  So if you get your stories in early and then those stories get a lot of hits...  Then maybe you can keep your story up on the front page for the Sunday.

I don't actually know, I'm just surmising.

EDIT: Actually, the Tommies have two top headlines in the front page, at least when viewing with the mobile app.  This makes me 99.99% it’s an automated system and someone has figured out the rating algorithm.

You have seen nothing my friend. Tune into KARE 11 Saturday evening sports report & watch Ryan Shaver in a full on love-fest with all things UST. I understand he is a UST grad and all but show some sort of professionalism Ryan.Bethel is in the Twin Cites and have one loss on the season, but he doesn't slobber all over the Royals. The final game of the season in Arden Hills will be interesting, especially if Bethel pulls out the win vs UST, will it get any air time on KARE 11 if UST doesn't prevail in Arden Hills.
I don't expect KARE to send a crew to St. John's, Concordia or St. Olaf but there are other MIAC schools in the Twin Cities area.
I'm just sayin'

Yes. All 250 schools have access to post game stories and a good number of them do. (Both St. Olaf and St. Thomas posted a game story from yesterday's game, in fact, which is why you see two stories about the game.) Anything a school posts is automatically published on the site.

I don't think DO.C. knew what you were referring to. He's a crank but he's not that ill-informed.
