Is it unrealistic to hold out hope that St John's could replace Whitewater as the #1 in the West Region?

A related question, is there any chance both could be #1 seeds nationally? Or would last year weigh too heavy with Brockport going to the semi's?

Tough crowd for the final home game of the season.

And I thought Concordia's fanbase was pathetic last weekend!

What am I chopped liver? that should read 1!

It will be close, but i think SJU will finish with a higher SOS if we beat Thomas More.  As it seems that the SJU/UWW selection is the only spot where the committee is splitting hairs with SOS, I suspect that will determine #1 in the western region.

I think Brockport, UMHB, and Mount Union are definite #1 seeds if they don't have a loss, leaving 1 spot for SJU or UWW.

Is your offer still good to purchase a roundtrip 1st class ticket for me to Melbourne (on an actual airplane), should Thomas More University do the unthinkable?

I don't remember making that offer... ;)

But sure, why not?  And you can fly first class on the back of a unicorn with sparkles shooting from its butt.  Because that just as likely to happen as the Saints beating the Johnnies. :o

I choose to define "unthinkable" as the Saints actually showing up in Collegeville.  I never said they'd play.

You see what we get to deal with? One quality win in the last four years and they crown themselves as unbeatable. Luckily it only happens once every four years. Got to give them credit though, they are an enthusiastic bunch!  ;D

I hope that's the last time we lose to St John's.

Good luck with that.

We're probably in the midst of a Schembechler/Hayes OSU/Michigan 10-year war, possibly longer. Honestly, this is the way it should be. I like the 50/50 feeling much more than the outcome-is-predetermined feeling (only once per regular season mind you).

As much as I think the SJU beatdown was an anomaly, it has made me exponentially more nervous about the Bethel game.

(I'm really loving the anticipation of this game. It's turning up to 11.)

Rankings are out:

http://www.d3football.com/playoffs/2018/first-regional-ranking

Sheesh. Looks to me right now like UST needs to beat Bethel by about 35 to even be considered.

I hope that's the last time we schedule a NAIA team.

Nah, I took this as the committee saying, with the info and criteria we have right now, knowing the game in two weeks, here's where you fall.

If UST beats Bethel they are going to jump. Their SOS will improve, their RRO results will improve. There will be recency bias. They'll get in.

It does seem to indicate that a 2 loss Bethel has a faint heartbeat, but a 2 loss UST is probably dead in the water.

I'd double it if I could based on your "The Beatings Will Continue Until Moral Improves" post on the WIAC board.

Thanks, stanbob. It was my pleasure.

I'm always happy to have a beer with someone. Most people I meet want to pour a beer on me, not have it with me.  So the change of pace would be refreshing.

Same.  Except for Pat, Adam and Dave.  They were nice about it.

We have an office in Melbourne.  My coworkers like the Richmond Tigers.
