Iowa disappoints all too often...

You do realize you're saying this to a board full of Minnesotans, right? There are many on this board who, due to proximity, are likely Gopher fans.  There are unknown depths of disappointment which Hawkeye fans could only imagine.

I elected from day one of the P.J. Fleck era not to Row the Boat, be ELITE, and live the HYPRR culture as a Nekton/Howfer/whatever....
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Condolences and prayers from the 57s to the folks in your area, especially the families of the young Girl Scouts who were senselessly killed while doing community service.  :'(

No one can believe it. 3 Girl Scouts and 1 of the girls mom killed by a guy who admits to "huffing" before running his truck into the ditch on Saturday morning where the girls and others were doing their "Adopt A Highway" clean-up.

Another Girl Scout is in critical condition. An terrible, terrible tragedy.

One of the reasons I'm not the biggest fan living in the Twin Cities is the overt business-bro culture that thrives here. I don't know what a six-sigma is, I roll my eyes when people say words like "synergy," I HATE networking events. It makes me think PJ Fleck might be perfect for this town. He sure does love the meaningless acronym.

SJU threw in some new offensive wrinkles this week.  I  like to see the offense constantly evolving.

Not to change the subject, but was talking with a couple of my Johnnie buddies this weekend and the subject was brought up an none of us knew.  Does anyone know where Kurt Ramler went after he left St. Scholastica?? Its like he did a Houdini....lol

I'd also heard that he's coaching in Europe.

Amen.  I've always worked in the suburbs, but when I've ocasionally needed to venture downtown for a meeting or conference, I can't help but be greatly annoyed at how most seem to be trying to prove their success by the way the talk / behave / carry themselves in general.  Way too many "cool kids".

I've got a few buddies who are all in when it comes to rowing the gopher boat.  I recently told them that P.J. Fleck's brain is a repository for the most vapid buzzwords and theories of every MBA capstone leadership course in existence.

They were not amused.

He's not my cup of tea, either, but if that's what works for kids today, then I guess that's fine.  His recruiting classes seem to be pretty positive, but obviously he'll need to improve a lot in the W/L category over the next few years, otherwise he's just Brewster 2.0.

Bench, you clearly need to make a paradigm shift. There are seminars available for this.

I expect a low scoring and VERY physical game on Saturday.

This is true.  I'll have a video playing of this game as well.  I'll look like a chameleon with eyes pointing in different directions next weekend.

A drugged up hit and run on a Girl Scout troop.  Unbelievable.

Gary's post game interview this week was interesting on this point.  Not a lot of detail, of course, but he mentioned it.

I noticed when I rewatched the first half that the receivers are running some pretty complex routes.  A lot of cross overs and presenting targets at multiple layers.  Plus, they often change receiving formation after the count has started.  It all adds up to the defense needing a highly skilled and adjustable secondary.  If Erdmann stays sharp and the receivers hands stay sticky then it will be a challenge for anyone at the DIII level to defend that play style.

I love the sound of that, Oz! Appreciate your much more skilled observations! I hope they hold true all the way to a national title!
