Great game, Johnnies.  Nice victory.  Despite being a little off, particularly on D, they Jays did the job.

Whitworth played cheap and dirty to the end.  Nice program you got out there.  I miss Linfield, a team that plays the game as it should be.  Go Cats.  Pirates suck.

EDIT: What's up with the Pirates charging the victory formation and then talking lip trying to get a Johnnie tossed and missing the next game?  That's some embarrassing crap, that is.  The Pirates did not cover themselves with glory with their sportsmanship this game.

They (rats) must have learned that by watching the tom's :-*

Well, the Whitworth fans and the team are both consistent in that respect... 8-)

I hope I'm proven wrong but the eternal pessimist in me is concerned that UMHB is going to destroy us next week.

Ok, that game has washed over me.  We'll have a hell of a challenge next week in Texas.  I'm looking forward to it.  the Johnnies are up for it.  35-31 is my early pick for a score.

OzJohnnie

Erdmann is flying up the distinguished list of Johnnie QB's in the stats this game.

@ Passes Ramler up to second in career TD passes with 90, 10 behind Kofoed.
@ Passess Linneman into 4th for career passing yards.
@ Ties Martin and Norman in fifth for career wins as a starter.

If you run into an a**hole in the morning, you ran into an a*sshole. If you run into a**holes all day, you're the a**hole.

I have yet to meet a bigger bunch of whiners and complainers than the few SJU posters who make the most noise. I mean look at the above guy watching the game on the video feed who knows that Whitworth was "talking lip trying to get a Johnnie tossed and missing the next game." It's sad when you have such a strong program and a great QB this year...

Congrats on the win, this offense against UMHB is gonna be fun to watch. Enjoy Belton, the folks down there will get you to some good eating if you make the trip down.

Pretty sure you are the only a**hole I have run into today! Just saying...8-)

Definitely think MHB is favored but last year we saw the MIAC's best go down there and it was a 10-10 game in fourth quarter. Not worried about Johnnies being able to compete.

Well, assuming the seeding holds, I expect to see some Red in the visitor's seats next week in Belton. A storied program, a fantastic team, and honor to be shown to the winningest coach in all of College football. I look forward to meeting any of you that will be down next week.

I expect I know the answer to this question, but how well will the fans travel all the way to Texas, assuming we host?

If anyone needs area information, I'd be happy to help you out. Have a great week, and safe travels for those who can make it.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Yeah, talking of whiners.  I clicked to the Whitless radio during halftime and heard some toad of an administrator whining about music as the Pirates approached the line .. and then bragging about getting an SJU fan tossed.

And, yeah, that victory formation crap was a great reflection on their program. Funny, Bethel and RPI had one-score games and more time left when they went to the v form .. and NCC and Brockport played it right.

The holier than though attitude has been well established at this point...

Better thought of as un-holier than though.  We're pretty much level.  The 'Rats managed to sink all on their own efforts.

hazzben

Great game in Naperville today. Really physical, big plays all over the field, two really good squads.

Undigested takeaways:

  • Kilgore went full on Beast Mode. 10 Tckls, 3 TFLs, 3 Sacks, 1 FF fumble, multiple hits on QB. He was everywhere, incredible effort.
  • NCC is gonna be really freaking good next year. They are good this year, but sounds like they bring a ton back, including Rutter. They are in my preseason Top 8, before I even look at what anyone else has returning.
  • Exceptional halftime adjustments by BU on offense. We spent the first half probing, but not getting much push. Great tweaks at halftime and it was like a totally different game.
  • Bethel went all Bethel in the second half, NCC had only 3 plays in the 3rd Q. T formation gave them fits.
  • #6 and #1 for NCC on D were some ballers. #55 was a specimen on the Oline. #15 made some great contested catches late in the game to keep NCC in it.
  • When Rutter had time, he was surgical. But he spent most of the day under serious duress. Even when the rush didn't get home, they were constantly forcing him to throw off his back foot or out of rhythm.
  • Great game called by Coach Mac on D. Love that we kept the pressure dialed up late and didn't get conservative when they drove to score twice in the 4th. So many teams start to get gun shy, he kept the heat up.
  • Brown made some nice open field tackles, by and large the whole secondary played well against a really good passer.
  • Belly Pitch strikes again!! My bro and I discussed that we hadn't run it in several weeks and it wouldn't be on film for NCC. Kirchoff and Co. dialed it up at the perfect time.
  • Once Bethel's Oline got rolling, NCC starting creeping up and committing extra numbers. Some great PAP's over the top for long scores. I said yesterday, people were underestimating Roste's throwing ability, talking about the solution being just to stack 8 in the box.
  • Roste played a great game, 15-20, over 200 yds, 3 TD's, some clutch runs. His best day as a passer to date. If he keeps slinging it like this, the whole offense opens up in new ways. He'll need to next week against an elite front 7.
  • #72 was hanging on for dear life against Monson and Kilgore. Ref wasn't real willing to pull the flag out. All in all though, I think it was called pretty well. The flag on BU's long TD run was a legit hold on #82, even though he didn't need to, it was right at the piont of attack.
  • North Central's play by play and color guy were a treat to listen to. Very knowledgeable, recognized great plays by stud players on both sides. Very unbiased in talking about officiating, etc. Not an undo homerism. Fun crew.
  • NCC's camera work on the other hand  :-\ I'm guessing it's students, but they were obsessed with the tight field view, showing only the QB and 2/3 of the guys up front. No ability to see the formation or the play develop from that view. Multiple times they never left it and you had zero idea what happened on the play. Then again, it wasn't that long ago we didn't have video. And I will say, their replays were nice, complete with slow-mo, and the ability to reverse a few frames and play it right back.

Also, congrats to SJU on the W!! Great day for the MIAC. Two really tough road games next week. But here's to a potential rematch in Collegeville. We'll do everything to hold up our end of the bargain against the WIWA hoard.

sjujohnnie

Congratulations to both Bethel & St John's for representing the MIAC well & advancing to the quarterfinals! Have two MIAC teams made it this far in the same season before? Stiff competition coming for both squads on the road next Saturday! And I totally agree with hazzben regarding the East! That bracket was a joke! It's unfortunate that with as deep as the NCAA's coffers are, that they can't increase the travel budget.
