Congratulations to both Bethel & St John's for representing the MIAC well & advancing to the quarterfinals! Have two MIAC teams made it this far in the same season before? Stiff competition coming for both squads on the road next Saturday! And I totally agree with hazzben regarding the East! That bracket was a joke! It's unfortunate that with as deep as the NCAA's coffers are, that they can't increase the travel budget.

Bethel and UST faced off in the Quarterfinals in 2010. UST won the regular season game 10-6, BU won @UST 12 - 7 in the playoffs. It was a bloodbath of a game, both times.

So SJU & Bethel both still alive in the Quarters is the second time the MIAC has has two alive this deep. But it's also the first time we could still have two alive for the Semi's. I haven't looked at Massey yet, but I'm sure we'll be underdogs in both next week.

Was Brinker healthy and playing for SJU today?

He started & it appeared like Whitworth had to hold him to contain him. I don't know how close to full strength he is, though.

Great game, Johnnies.  Nice victory.  Despite being a little off, particularly on D, they Jays did the job.

Whitworth played cheap and dirty to the end.  Nice program you got out there.  I miss Linfield, a team that plays the game as it should be.  Go Cats.  Pirates suck.

EDIT: What's up with the Pirates charging the victory formation and then talking lip trying to get a Johnnie tossed and missing the next game?  That's some embarrassing crap, that is.  The Pirates did not cover themselves with glory with their sportsmanship this game.

Based on what you said, I'm glad you stuck it to 'em. But I was rooting for the Johnnies anyway. Good game. Best to you guys next week. You can do it! 😃 ❗️

Congrats to the Johnnies and the Bethies on the wins today.
Will be a couple of tough matchups next Saturday. It's a shame one of the MIAC teams couldn't have been sent out east.

I'm glad to see the MIAC represent so well this year. I hope we both pull out great games next week. It's the very pointy end of the season now.

I agree with you about a team being sent east. But don't you know, only Mount Union gets sent east. Been talked about for years. Best to ya! 😃 🍺

I wonder how much different the list of Stagg Bowl titles would look if the selection committee based the playoff participants off of the Top 25 poll like the NAIA does to select the 16 teams that will make it's playoff? Then if it was reseeded after each round as the NAIA does, I can't imagine there would've been the string of Mount/Whitewater matchups in the Stagg or only 3 teams having won it since '05. I think the list would also look different if the top teams weren't lumped into the West bracket while the north/east brackets don't face anyone until the semis.

The east is a joke. I guess Brockport and Frostburg were over ranked all season long. The top teams out there continue to underwhelm. None ever really competes with mount Union in the east, now the supposed best teams out there can't even get out of the second round.

The pearl clutching over in the d4 bracket is a bit sad. Brockport was a sham No. 1 seed ... and proved it today.

In other news, despite the awful East performance, Frank Rossi's mood on the D3 Blitz improved dramatically, when Mom brought hot coco to the basement ... with marshmellows!

I totally agree with your comment on the east and the east teams. I think most of us have felt that way forever. The west, on the other hand, .............! 😃 🍺

I was at the game, and there was a lot of garbage out of Whitworth.  That crap on the victory formation just solidified my view of them.  The J's need to get better about letting those things roll off their shoulders.  They got stung for retaliating--shouldn't happen.

Also, I need to pop in to the "IIAC" board and offer my sympathies for having to deal with those officials on a regular basis.  Wow.

Brinker played, but he definitely wasn't 100%.

Whitworth was talented and exploited some weaknesses in the Johnnie D.  They couldn't stop the J's offense, though.

South: #2 v #3  (first seed v second seed)
West: #5 v #11 (first seed v third seed)
North: #1 v #23  (first seed v seventh seed)
East: #14 v unranked (second seed v fifth seed)

I'm fine with the AQ rules.  They are a DIII thing and they add value to the competition.  But the seeding and brackets arrangement is disgraceful.

I was jealous you were there, duffman.  It's not often that I regret leaving for foreign shores,  but this is one of those times.  I've been wording up Mrs Oz that I want to go to the Stagg if the Jays can make it that far.  There's a direct flight from Melbourne to Dallas and then it's a three-hour drive from DFW to Woodforest Bank Stadium.  I've lodged the paperwork with the CFO of Oz Inc and I'm waiting to see if I get approval.
