Bethel 23, Whitewater 17...
Overrated Brockport, Over rated Frostburg, Over rated  Whitewater next to fall.....

So now we somehow get lumped in with two East teams? OK...

Check back next week JMM.

One of the best games I ever saw. Saw Gales' parents walking to Mary cafe at half time totally dejected

Yea I'm pretty sure whatever is true of Bethel in their last 3 games is probably true for NCC as well. Contrary to most opinions, This game is gonna come down to how well NCCs defense contains Bethels offense in my opinion.

Perhaps.  BU can consistently hit at least 21 points (being held to less than 20 only once) even against tough defences and they have only scored blowouts against the real sieves.  Therefore, I expect them to score 22-28 against NCC.  According to Massey the NCC and UST defenses are of similar strength and BU put 21 on UST.

BU also has a tough defense, allowing more than 30 only once (and over 20 twice) and that was in the first half of the season.  They have been a defensive rock since then and have stuffed the Tommies (a challenge) and Wartburg (less so) in the last couple weeks.

Being there is pretty good predictability about the BU offensive output, I reckon the question is the NCC scoring capability.  NCC only scored under 30 one time all year and that was in the middle of the season.  In fact, NCC hasn't faced a defense rated as strong as BU's since that loss to Wheaton.

This is a game on a knife edge.  Will be interesting to watch (out of one chameleon eye as I focus on the Johnnie match).

Let me have a think about the UWW game, Royals and I tell you how it will go later this week.  ;)

Chewey,

Play that game again and David Russell would leave a cleat mark on Duff's forehead!

That was a good team you guys had that year and 2003 when we played at SJU and, especially, in 2004.   Hard to see what's happened to PLU.  That program has been sort of let down since Frosty retired.  Your coach staff has changed it appears but the program is still strong.  I wonder if Bluenote is still around.......good guy

After reading the MHB fans, an SJU win in Texas next weekend would be just as satisfying as the SJU win over Lintfield in 2002 after they said how David Russell would  run all over us and  Ty Mathews and George Carter would connect for about 5 TD's.  Mathews spent a lot of time on his back that day, as I recall.  In 2000, Hardin Simmons was supposed to be all that and SJU beat them pretty handily.

UWW fans have a similar Linfield story from 2005. That game put UWW on the D3 map.

You guys have been awfully tough ever since.  Always a fun trip going to WW and you guys have been a good match for MUC.  I promised my wife that I wouldn't go to Crusin' Chubby's on the way......fortunately, she has a good sense of humor

Having seen both UWW and Bethel (not in person) they are quite similar teams. It should be a good close game.

Ummm... it is 2018 right? HSU does not equate to UMHB, just in the same state. Sure they are a tough side (ranked in the top 10) but beatable and the Cru have now been doing that pretty much for a decade, except for one anomaly, but that was rectified in the playoff so to say the Cru are the Cowboys just does not fit. It would be like saying UMHB defeated St. Thomas last season in the semifinals so SJU should expect to lose, nope, Sure the Cru defeated that particular team in that particular season, but this is 2018 and not 2000 or 2002, The Crunation welcomes SJU to the Cruthedral and if your traveling here, Get to Millers BBQ early or it is gone, Best meat ya'll can eat. And for the Johnnies, outstanding work on reaching this deep! I'll be honest with ya, it's gonna be a hell of a game. If ya need any questions answered on travel and such just shout on the boards and we'd be glad to help.

I wonder if East Region apologist (and podcast expert that proclaimed the hardest bracket being the one Brockport was seeded #1 in) Frank would like to share with us here in the MIAC Board how the NCAA Selection Committee got it correct with the brackets that were clearly flawed from the moment they were done......Brockport and Frostburg were both clearly overrated and overseeded.

Left side of the bracket
#2 vs.#3
#5 vs. #11

Right side of the bracket
#1 vs. #23
#14 vs. unrated

NostradamOZ strikes again! I'll take another prescient pic from down under, provided you still have the Royals on top  ;D

Roste's play throwing the ball today was really encouraging. I expected the Dline to play tough and figured we'd get pressure. Thought the OLine could get in a groove. But when he started nailing guys downfield in stride on play action, things looked good.

Should be a blissfully violent game on Saturday. Two teams with very similar profiles from my early glance. Both have fast, physical, ball hawking defences (Oz  ;)). Both pride themselves on OLine play and physical running games. Both have fast, athletic WR's that can take the top off a D.

Unfortunately, I'll be watching on my AppleTV and not at the Perk  :'(

I said it a couple weeks ago and will say it again, NCAA seedings are a joke, imagine if they tried it this way in D1...

In my best Frank Rossi voice:

QuoteThis only goes to show how truly tough the East was this year. I went on record as saying Brockport had the toughest road to the Semi's given the parity in their quadrant. This doesn't show us at all that the East is weak, just how deep and talented the East truly is.

::)

The East is a joke. But at least if Johns Hopkins beats RPI we won't have another scenario like this year playing out again, where unbeaten West teams lose out to unbeaten East teams because of previous years playoff results.

Non #1 seeds that could have won that bracket this year: Bethel, SJU, North Central, Whitworth, SNC (??), Hardin Simmons ...
