Yesterday was a case of SJU needing to be just a little better than the competition. The game was never in doubt.

Passing attack was efficicient, second half running game picked up and the two step passing attack kept Johnnie D on their toes.

Max Jackson punt return for TD was a walk through the park.

Johnnies in Belton will be a real football game however I expect SJU to prevail. Doubtful MHB has seen a QB, WRs, DT and DBs like The Johnnies. If MHB had you wouldn't see the terribly lopsided scores up and down the their schedule.

I was impressed with the tailgate crew and the home crowd. One of the best playoff crowds in my memory. Enthusiastic and vocal - somewhat out of the ordinary for Collegeville.

It's a special season for Johnnie Football.

Are you forgetting that this was a team that held Mount last year to one touchdown in the Stagg Bowl. ASC has two high powered offenses in ETBU (#6 in total offense,) and HSU (#5 in total offense).  Southwestern (#35 in total offense) can put up some numbers too. But I think this stat says a lot, UMHB defense has only allowed opponents 9 Red Zone Attempts all year. Out of 12 games only 9. What's even scarier, the vast majority of those 9, were against the backups after the game was well out of reach. I think the lopsided scores are more of a testament to the Defense of UMHB not the lack of quality competition.

I see the score looking similar to the HSU game.

No team has walked into Crusader Stadium and had their way with UMHB. And most teams that play UMHB for the first time are usually in for a rude awakening.

Well, except for last season's MIAC champs. Who did just fine and were tied entering the fourth.

This is true. Another reason I'm looking forward to the SJU match up. I will say this year's UMHB team has a far better offense in my opinion. And their defense is showing improvements from last year.

Johnnies fans

I have a lot of respect for UMHB. They're a good team in a good program. But wait. St. John's is a good team in a good program. And St. John's is a CLASSY program. Also has classy fans on this board. So, as an outsider from one of the other classy teams, I'll simply say, Go Johnnies. Wish you the very best in Texas. Remember - You have John watching over you - they don't! Get the victory! 😃 🏈 ❗️

I realize UMHB is much newer to football than Mount Union. I knew someone would point that out. But lots of other teams started back when Mount did (1893) and still haven't accomplished what Mount has. Consecutive win streak (55) , consecutive road wins, consecutive regular season wins, top running back in NCAA history (Nate Kmic) and on and on. These are just some of the Raiders records.
As you said, Until UMHB accomplishes a little more, a lower profile with less chest-thumping would be appropriate. Good for you, Mr. Ypsi.

Why are we even playing the game then?

I can appreciate your username, but spare me your bogus predictions.  All the respect in the world--UMHB is good, but they're no UMU/MUC.

UMHB is 2-2  all-time against Mount Union.

I'm actually excited to see how SJU measures up to UMHB. But I just would be surprised if its closer than a 3 score game.

What?  You created this account just to troll over here and spare your real account from the negative karma?  Ha!  That makes me laugh hard.  A good dose of Texas courage you have.  Not.

Is this how the Cru roll?  Scared?  Nice.  I'm looking forward to this game twice over now.

simply offering my opinion man

but why the bogus account...

Since MUC/UMU has smashed just about every record there is, I hold on covetously to one of the few they DON'T have, but the CCIW's Augustana does:  FOUR CONSECUTIVE Stagg Bowl titles! ;D  With (for now, at least) UMHB and UWW pretty consistently a threat, and UST and SJU now-and-then a threat, I doubt you'll manage four in a row (but who knows?).

One of the few other records of note that you don't already have:  consecutive winning seasons.  Linfield is gonna be real hard to catch if they add a year to the record every year!  You need some diabolical scheme to give them just one losing season! ;)

UMU offers to play them for the 10th game and hope they finish 5-5 some year?

This does feel a bit like 2003. I brought that up a few weeks back on the OAC board. But none would own all the 'SJU is toast' and 'this is one of Mounts best ever' talk that was being thrown around.

UMHB is gonna be a serious test for the SJU offense and their front 7. Not predicting a win, but history isn't kind to teams that give SJU no shot. Granted SJU had to take the same kinda lumps against Bethel's foe this week back in 2005.

What makes these teams elite is they usually do hold serve in dominant fashion. But they aren't invincible and teams do break through.

Here's to the MIAC pulling off the improbable double W on Saturday.

MUC - You can take one thing to the bank, I believe the Cru respect UW-W and SJU as opponents, double that for UMU, I was once a UMU "ehhh not that big a deal team", especially after the 2016 semi - (classic end you have to admit) but I became a believer concerning UMUs ability and program after 2017 and not because of the Stagg - but the coaching staff, that is what makes that program steamroller on and on. So yeah, you can tout the wins, and you have every right to, because ya'll deserved them.
It'll take awhile, ok a LONG while but I hope some day we catch up....SO can ya'll stop with the winning for say... oh 20 years... thanks ;D

If SJU wins the Stagg, (and if the chalk holds), they will have

beaten Bethel, on the road,
beaten UMHB, on the road,
beaten UWW, on the road,
and beaten UMU away from Collegeville.

That will be remarkable.

Play that game again and David Russell would leave a cleat mark on Duff's forehead!

Well, in all fairness, I am almost 38!

I promise you that the team is not giving SJU "No shot" and neither are a lot of fans. I just find it funny that sometimes people look at programs getting trucked on a regular basis and assume that means those teams are no good. TLU, HSU, ETBU, LC, and Southwestern are all solid teams, that put up some offensive numbers ( all averaged over 31 pts/game). UMHB has given up 57 pts all season. All of them average over 375/game on offense UMHB's D has given up 178 on average. I could continue with each stat area, but why. The reality is that UMHB's defense is good, and even in the face of some very good offensive teams, has been very good. Will I be surprised if SJU puts up some points? Nope. They're a good team, but I think this will be more about SJU keeping UMHB off the board to win than it will be winning in a shoot out.  UMHB won't get into a shoot out.

There have been some crazy games between the two, but they have only played once in the Cruthedral, a 16-15 game in 2013. in 08 they won 39-13 in the semis and in 07 there was a 16-7 game that involved crazy wind, but both of those games were in the old HS stadium days

Always enjoy reading your posts. And the way your program is progressing, you will catch up and maybe even surpass everything Mount has done. Since I am old, make that OLDER, I will not be around to see it. If, by some quirk of fate, I am still around, I'll be so old I won't care. Guess I'm safe.
Good luck on Saturday to both teams. Should be a hell of a game. And, pardon the old cliche, may the better team win.
Damn! Is Dlll football great or what? And this site makes it even better. 😃 ❗️

Question for St John's fans:

Have the practices changed since Coach Fasching took over?

Do they still have all the "No's?"

No conditioning
No hitting
No blocking sleds
No playbooks
No organized warm ups
Etc
