I see the score looking similar to the HSU game.

No team has walked into Crusader Stadium and had their way with UMHB. And most teams that play UMHB for the first time are usually in for a rude awakening.

Why are we even playing the game then?

Barf.

I can appreciate your username, but spare me your bogus predictions.  All the respect in the world--UMHB is good, but they're no UMU/MUC.

Pretty sure UWW has waltzed down to Belton before and had their way with UMHB
There have been some crazy games between the two, but they have only played once in the Cruthedral, a 16-15 game in 2013. in 08 they won 39-13 in the semis and in 07 there was a 16-7 game that involved crazy wind, but both of those games were in the old HS stadium days
In that 2008 game, it was a one score UWW lead at the half. The wind was incredible. UMHB kicked off in the 3rd qtr INTO  the wind and the ball blew back over the kicker's head. UWW recovered in the red zone, and the game was over!

Thanks for the correction on the year Ralph. I was at the 07 game, I should've caught that.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Mr. Ypsi

I realize UMHB is much newer to football than Mount Union. I knew someone would point that out. But lots of other teams started back when Mount did (1893) and still haven't accomplished what Mount has. Consecutive win streak (55) , consecutive road wins, consecutive regular season wins, top running back in NCAA history (Nate Kmic) and on and on. These are just some of the Raiders records.
As you said, Until UMHB accomplishes a little more, a lower profile with less chest-thus mping would be appropriate. Good for you, Mr. Ypsi.

Since MUC/UMU has smashed just about every record there is, I hold on covetously to one of the few they DON'T have, but the CCIW's Augustana does:  FOUR CONSECUTIVE Stagg Bowl titles! ;D  With (for now, at least) UMHB and UWW pretty consistently a threat, and UST and SJU now-and-then a threat, I doubt you'll manage four in a row (but who knows?).

One of the few other records of note that you don't already have:  consecutive winning seasons.  ELinfield is gonna be real hard to catch if they add a year to the record every year!  You need some diabolical scheme to give them just one losing season! ;)

Mr.Ypsi

Augustana's record 4 national titles in a row will probably never be broken - or even matched. Mount had 3 in a row twice but couldn't get that 4th one.
Linfield's consecutive winning season record is just about unbelievable. How can any program be that good for such a long time. Simply amazing.
You're another one who's posts I always read. You're knowledgeable and make sense. Enjoy the weekend games. Oh, one more thing. Go Raiders! So there. 😃 🍺 ❗️
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

Question for St John's fans:

Have the practices changed since Coach Fasching took over?

Do they still have all the "No's?"

No conditioning
No hitting
No blocking sleds
No playbooks
No organized warm ups
Etc
Things have been modified.
The first strength & conditioning coach ever was brought in Fasching's first year.
No blocking sled still
Playbook? Think iPads
Warm up are for poking fun at the other team with The Beautiful Day Drill etc... ;)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Oh yea, SJU now actually recruits players...like in going to their high schools and then to their house to talk to their parents. That's actually worked out pretty well over the past 6 seasons. Weird.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Can anyone talk about why St John's fell off especially in the last few years of Gagliardi's legendary tenure & then what has lead to their resurgence under Fasching? Isn't the bulk of the staff the same? I'm aware that Heckendorf took Jim's place as the OC.

Free Cheese Whiz.  Plus an emphasis on adding things to a long and strong tradition without breaking the tradition (recruiting, strength & conditioning, every-other-year travel games to Canadia, more specialist coaches, etc).  There are some very special things about the atmosphere and vibe of SJU and from what I can see they have been maintained and nurtured.  While there are some other things that are required to get ordinary men to an extraordinary level.  And when those things don't break the special SJU magic then they have been pursued.

I must say that a slight nagging for me about becoming a perennial national power is the consequence to the character of the program where building men has always been more important (and integral part) of building a team.  I would hate to see SJU grow the football program only to see a graduation rate around 36%.  SJU currently claims about a 90% graduation rate.  It seems immoral to build a program on the back of players who will be saddled with debt and no degree to show for it.

So, I enjoy the success and hope it longs continues.  But I watch with interest how the character of the program develops as players get better at winning against the big boys.

EDIT: And a JV program.  That's a big new development, too.

My thoughts-SJU has a guy with D1 talent at QB-haven't had that in years.
Also, New O coordinator is better with game calls than former guy.

Yeah, we've got one more year of Erdmann left.  It will be a big blow the day he's gone. I wonder who will step into his shoes.

Hopefully SJU has that guy on the team now or is out there recruiting that guy.

I agree, zip.

Hazzben, my thoughts are that both SJU and BU are underdogs but BU has a higher hill to climb.

The UWW defense is strong and set up to be play BU’s game.  I think the reliable BU offence can score 17 on them.  If they play out of their skin then maybe the BU O can get 21.  The UWW O is powerful too and I expect them to score 28. If the game gets away from you then 35.  To win you need to hold them under 20 and see the offence over perform by a bit.  UWW has only been held to under 30 twice, both times early in the season. (Concordia 24 and UWO 20).  So it isn’t hopeless but BU will need to play an inspired game, easily the best they have yet this year by many times.

EDIT:  Also, UWW has only had 21 scored on them twice. Both times in the last few weeks but many of those points came in garbage time of a game well under control.  So, yes, a challenge. But I’m certain BU will leave everything on the field and give themselves a shot.

My comment was meant to mess with Mr. 2livecru.  I know that UMHB is one hell of a team at home.
