So, you're telling me there's a chance!!

Interesting thing is, I ran the simulation using Bluenote's technology and it said 100% chance of Bethel getting the rare quadruple Stomp Out.  Massey or Blue ... wonder which is more accurate. 

On my work computer so I'm not going to click that Bluenote link, but I always just assumed Bluenote's technology was some mixture of moonshine, everclear, and bottom shelf Romanian vodka.

Hazz is a Bethel guy, so he can be trusted, but just in case let me know how it works out.

The last time I trusted Bethel folks, I froze my butt off in the cold to watch my team lose a heartbreaking game on a blocked quick kick punt.

Also, I don't understand why the Johnnie fans aren't mad at their own administration for selling out their mailing lists. That's not UST's fault.

I'm making a generalization for the sake of silliness on both accounts. But a lot of the pontificating and holier than thou from the Johnnies is kind of silly also, so as long as we are on the same page with that.

I hear next year there will be a huge Orville Redenbacher and Pepsi logo on Gagliardi field and the front of the Johnnie's jerseys will feature a giant Target ad instead of a number a la professional soccer.

I for one am glad UST will NEVER sell out, unlike stores carrying my favorite chips, Cool Ranch Doritos by Frito Lay, a brand all about boldness.

Did the NCAA not provide the sponsorship reads for nearly every break in the action last week?  When Northwestern hosted the NCAA regional volleyball tournament the last couple years I had about 6 pages of ads and promos to get through each game.

As Pat said on the podcast, my fandom is up for grabs with TMU leaving the Division next year.  Played and still love D3 football.  Its a pure game.

I would have guessed that the MN weather provided to you would have taken SJU out of the running for your fandom, but we'd gladly welcome you aboard!

There were some, but far less than normal SJU games.  And no "turn to page..." contests.

Some rambling thoughts from a long time lurker and very infrequent poster who has had various connections to the SJU football program dating back to the mid-80's. Like all Johnnie fans, I am excited about playing a game in December, it has been too long. My take on the UMHB game is that the Johnnies will have to be at their absolute best to win the game, especially on defense. A little dose of Johnnie magic wouldn't hurt either.

I am encouraged that this years team has risen to each challenge put in front of them. Although it turned out maybe UST wasn't who we thought they were, winning that game, in those highly emotional circumstances, showed the heart of a great team.

Someone posed a question a few pages back about the program falling off in the latter years of John's tenure, and its' improvement during the last several years. When Gary was hired, there was a commitment to increase the resources allocated to the football program, and that over-all commitment to the program is bearing fruit. Glenn Caruso had a lot to do with SJU struggles in the early 2010's, and he's had a lot to do with it rising back up.

Which brings me to my last point. When I saw what UST was doing with their program, and SJU's response to that, I felt like the MIAC would be a conference dominated by those 2 teams for a long time. For the last few years, that seemed to be playing itself out. I won't say I'm shocked by what Bethel has done this year, because Steve Johnson is a tremendous coach, but it is surprising. For my money, they gave SJU a tougher game than UST, which all made sense when they ended up beating UST. Add in the shellacking of Wartburg and the impressive road win at NCC (something SJU couldn't do last year), this run they are in is very, very impressive. As much as it pains me to say this, I give them a better chance of beating UWW than of SJU beating UMHB.

I had originally thought this after the Bethel game as well. However, after what has transpired in the playoffs, IMHO, UST may have been exactly who we thought they were, but both SJU and Bethel were the ones who weren't who we thought they were. They turned out to be much, much more!

Maybe the terminology needs to be changed to alternate site home game. Calling it a neutral site doesn't make sense. Neutral carries with it the implication of impartiality.

I think the neutral term refers to the site/field. Since neither team had ever played at Target Field before, neither team had an advantage of knowing the field better than the other team so from that standpoint it was impartial.
